fire glo fuel and fireplace
polese  from Boise, Idaho,  Sep 10, 2009
as an appreciative customer of overstock.com products - i purchased a ventless fireplace...the information i received at time of purchase was accurate and the instruction for assembly was understandable....the fuel gel that is used in this fireplace is easy to handle and burns just as clean and odor free as advertized...i live in a small home in Idaho...the winters are very cold at times....i use my fireplace with its fuel gel to bring ambiance and comfort to my home...i use two cans of fuel gel and it warms my living room and kitchen reducing the setting on my thermostat...often in Idaho we have 'no fireplace' use regulation due to severe atmosphereic pressures; i do not fall into that category with this fireplace as it does not release residue in the air...i love my fireplace and its fuel gel, i would recommend these products without reservation......

Love this item, I was very pleased to see that the company removed the paper around the can makes it a lot better to use, you don't have to peel it off. Puts off enough heat to nock the chill out of the air.

fireplace gel
cooniewife  from North Florida,  Oct 9, 2009
I love this product. I have very bad allergies and this product does not affect my allergies. It gets very cold in Northern Florida, near Tallahassee. So, On a cold night you can snuggle up and listen to the crackle, watch the glow bouncing around the room and go off into dream land. LOVE, Love this product. My Husband was surprised at the amount of heat the gel produced also. This would be great withany type of fireplace.

Great price!
missamerica48  from Cranston, Rhode Island,  Jul 11, 2009
It's not difficult to find good prices on gel cans, but I like these because they burn closer to 3 hours than two, and you don't have to peel off the label. Good value!

Cozy on a budget.
shopshops  from Joshua, TX,  Jul 8, 2009
I bought these in fall 2008 to complement my wall mounted fireplace and have had no regrets. You get that "snap, crackle, pop without having to worry about the chimney sweep!!!!!.Excellent for warmth in a small room. Only ornamental and romantic in a larger room. When I use it in my master bath fireplace I get enough warmth whilst sitting in the bath. This is a clean flame, with no toxic fumes or black soot. To end the fire show you just replace the lid and reuse or discard if spent. The flame really lasts for about 2 - 21/2 hours. Very enjoyable for North Texas winters.

Surprisingly the gel fuels raised our temperature 8 degrees. Order arrived in good time. I just wish the gel fuels were less expensive.

Pleased overall.
Anonymous  from Roseville, Calif,  Mar 2, 2009
I purchased my fireplace and fuel just before Christmas. I have really enjoyed it on the rainy days. It does average burning 2.5-3 hours. I have had 6 cans out of the case though that burned out early and when trying to relight, they would not. There was still 1/4 of the can left...hmmm. The house warms up very nicely. My only complaint is while the smell is minimal downstairs, its a whole different story as it travels upstairs. I haven't tried to take the labels off as suggested, so I hope that will be the change on the smell. But overall, its very nice to have and I enjoy it. Worth the money to buy the FP and the fuel.

FireGlo Fuel
friskylamb  from Lees Summit, MO,  Feb 21, 2009
This product really delivers on its manufacturer's claims. The fuel is easy to use and un-used portions are re-usable; the flames snap and pop just like the real thing. There is a small amount of heat generated by the burning fuel, but it is a comfortable heat, just perfect for setting the right ambiance in a room. There is a small distinct odor that the burning fuel generates, but it is not objectionable. The odor is at its strongest when the fuel is exhausted, but this odor goes away when the fuel cans lids are replaced. We get between 2.5 to 3 hours per can of fuel. When compared to other gel fuels on the market, the FireGlo Fuel was an EXCELLENT value.

The fuel burns just the the name brand. it is not quite as jelled but the results are the same. The burn time is about 2.5 hrs per can.

FIRE GLO GEL

The gel works just like it is advertised. It lasted three hours or so and lit right away. If you need fuel in a can it is great. Shipped and delivered promptly like all products I have ordered from the big O.

Overstocks Great Value
JasminesMom  from Knoxville, TN,  Jan 28, 2009
I have shopped both online and in local retail stores for FireGlo. Not only are the prices increasingly higher on the other sites, but you're also paying for a high shipping fee with them. With Overstock.com, you get Low, Low prices, along with the Lowest shipping fees I've ever seen online. Thank you Overstock.com, for having items that consumers can afford during this struggling time in our economy.

As Advertised!
carqueen1  from Washington, DC,  Jan 24, 2009
I used the gel fuel cans for the first time watching the Inauguration in the evening in the den. I had no problem pulling off the label (many of the cans I received have labeles FALLING off). It gave the room a wonderfully cozy ambience and looked just great. I had been told 9000 BTUs isn't much but that it would warm a small room and by golly it DID! The gel cans did in fact burn the stated 2.5 - 3 hours and did not smell at all while burning. (If the fuel is extinguished and the can left open there is a slight alcohol scent.) I didn't even notice any odor when they went out because they were empty. It really does crackle and pop just like a wood burning fireplace. I can't help but wonder if what another reviewer called "corrosion" is actually particles that cause the fire SOUNDS? I did see what appeared to be particles in the gel when I opened the can; nothing like that was left in the can when the fuel was burned up. I doubt corrosion or rust would burn and therefore would still be in the can when empty of gel. I feel the fuel is a bit pricey however price PER can is not so bad - What does a cord or even a pack of wood cost these days? I do have a regular fireplace also and the gel fire is SO much EASIER to set up (no logs to haul) and clean up when done, makes the price of the cans a little easier to swallow...

Odor Eater
ckinfla27  from Florida,  Jan 15, 2009
I have been burning these fuel cans for several years and realized there was an odor in the house after about an hour. To solve the problem, I remove the paper wrappers from each can before I light them and no more smoky smell. it works like a charm. Try it.

FireGlo Gel Fuel
sadiesprungy  from Long Beach, NY,  Dec 11, 2008
Crackles and pops like a real fire, no smell or smoke or soot. Peeling the labels off before using is time consuming, so I suggest peeling the label under cool running water to loosen the glue under the paper backing the label. Well worth it.

works fine
myscarlett  from Vermont,  Dec 7, 2008
This is my first purchase of any type of gel fuel, so I can't compare to other brands. The flame was quite a bit bigger than I had expected and it burned great. I didn't really notice any bad odor as other people have commented. on. I don't think the gel fuel cans lasted as long as they were suppose to, but overall I'm happy and would buy them again.

They give off a nice flame with some heat. I was disappointed in that they seem to have a chemical-type smell. The actual fireplace which I purchase through Overstock.com is very nice and looks good in my kitchen.
