Having read other reviews on this rug about it being more orange than red we went ahead and ordered it. Our dining room would work with either color. When we got it, the rug indeed is more orange than the picture conveys. I doubt it has anything to do with Overstock, but the rug came packaged so that it wasn't perfectly rolled up. Instead it was mostly rolled up with some folds in the rug so that it created some creases. When I rolled it out on the floor the creases were rather prominent. What I did was take a damp towel and our iron and began ironing the rug with the damp towel in between. That helped to diminish the creases and other humps in the rug to an acceptable level. However it would take several more weeks for everything to finally settle down completely flat. So if you're buying this at the last minute before a social occasion, be prepared that you might not have a perfectly flat rug immediately. Aside from that the rug is fine. It looks good in our dining room and keeps our feet warm now that winter has settled in. We did want a slightly bigger rug, something along the lines of 8'x12', but those rugs doubled in price over this one just to add on a bit more. This seemed like a good compromise and so far we're pleased with it. Also, on that first day there were fumes coming off of it, but after the first couple of hours I couldn't detect them anymore. When my wife got home she didn't notice them, so they must have diminished.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? The site picture is darker and looks more red. The rug has more of an orange tone.
- Please tell us about the quality of the product. It seems fine so far.
- How accurate was the on site description of the product? Aside from the color, it seemed fine.
I bought this rug because of the beautiful photo, and the first reviewer who has a different perspective than I about the true-ness of the color of the rug versus the photo and description. I expexted a deep burnt orange approaching red, the color of georgia clay or a brick made from Georgia clay. Instead, the rug is an intense orange! I was worried when the binding was pale orange. When I unrolled the rug, it was a huge disappointment. Also, the geometrics in the rug are not crisp like the photo. Instead of cream in parts, or green in parts, there is a mixture of off-white plus tan or green speckles. In fact, except for the crisp red border and thin motif throughout the rug (see photo), nothing about the rug looks like the photo when seen in person and up close. Also, as soon as I opened it, I was knocked back by a chemical smell that had my dogs running and my sinuses burning. I walked to the back of the house, and within 5 minutes, the smell had wafted back there to fill the whole house. I dragged the rolled rug to the garage, called my husband to tell him my "find" was a huge bust, and immediately signed on to write this review and arrange return of the rug, which will be enormously expensive. Bad bad bad bad bad!!!!!
The rug is so perfect in my family room. The colors are true and the quality is great.
