Recent Customer Reviews in File Cabinets

It took my husband and I four hours each. Normally I do "furniture-in-a-box" all by myself, this time I asked for help. When we finally finished, I tried loading my files. I have to completely take the drawer out of the stand just to file something or get some out of a file! DO NOT BUY THIS! I had to replace it with a file from Sam's Club. A much better product and no building required! I've moved this piece of junk to my hobby room for storage of odds & ends.

All the reviews same the same thing and I should have listened. I experienced the same: 1) the directions are horrible. It did take a while to put together, and the assembly wasn't that difficult - after you figure out on your own what to do. It would be MUCH easier with better directions. 2) the top two drawers align with the frame, but the bottom two (file cabinets) do not. AT ALL. They are about 1-1.5 inches indented from the outer frame. 3) the lock is shoddy. It locks, yes, but when you give locked drawers a tug, the opposite side of the cabinet still tugs open a little. Also, note that the lateral drawers don't hold files laterally. Instead, they hold two rows of files per drawer, perpendicular to the front of the drawer. Sort of a waste of space, as if the files were held laterally, you could get a lot more in each drawer. I should have noticed this in the picture with the drawer slightly open. Overall, it looks nice, but I expected "espresso" to be chocolate b...

PROS: The quality of the packaging was great. The instructions were almost great, but if you are familiar with flat-pack furniture, you will be able to get through it with no problems within a couple hours. All the pieces and hardware were there. The unit is solid and sturdy and the color was accurate (I bought the Espresso version). CONS: The unit was smaller than I expected, but that's because I'm a bad judge of measurements. There wasn't enough glue in the tube to glue all the dowels, even when using just a drop for each dowel. My only real complain is in the adjustable shelving. The unit was designed for six storage areas. If you are like me and want to use it for books, there are no drilled holes to mount the shelves in the middle to create four equal storage areas. If you are handy (and very careful), you might want to drill extra holes prior to assembling the unit to ensure you can place the shelves where you desire.

This file cabinet is adequate for my needs. I moved and shredded about 90% of my old documents. I only have a small amount of papers that i need to file now, so this is perfect. It's the same height as my nightstand, so it adds symmetry to my bedroom set when i place it on the side of the bed opposite the nightstand. It includes a drawer which is big enough to store my checkbooks, pens, and plenty of paper. There's also a slot above the small drawer which is deep enough to store bigger files (like 11x14 sheets of paper). The negatives: 1. The wheels don't move very well when you slide the file cabinet across the floor. 3 wheels make contact with the floor, and one doesn't. I could flip it over and adjust the tightness of the screws to try to balance it out perfectly, but i'm not going to be moving around the file cabinet, so i'm not worrying about it. 2. The instructions are decent, but it's very easy to make a mistake. The instructions are diagrams, no words. I wasn't sure...

color and size are great and very functional. locks are pretty cheap and key doesn't work well. there are wheel locks to keep it in place but if you have a wood floor the cabinets will move as locks on wheels aren't that good. overall i am pleased
