Mounting brackets add approximately 1/2 inch to headrail width when installed. If you are mounting inside the window casing please subtract 1/2 inch to 1 inch from the measurement to ensure the blinds will fit properly. Also, please note that the valance is 2 inches wider than the blinds.

Great looking & easy to install
I needed a custom sized blind to put over a large window in my front living room. I was able to find the exact size I need and the measuring directions were perfect to help me make sure I had the right dimensions. The only problem I had was a dent in the metal at the top of the blinds. Since it comes with a decorative cover to put over this metal piece, I didn't worry about it and now that its covered, it looks great. It didn't affect functionality or ease of installation. Installing was very easy. Because the blinds are pretty heavy, especially for a larger window, it did take two of us to mark the holes and lift the blinds into place. Now that they're in they look fabulous!
