We had a Farberware perc model and were not happy with it, I've had a lot of coffee pots over the years from cheap to $200. models and I think this is one of the better one. The coffee comes out hot, easy to make and easy to clean. Does not take very long for the coffee to finish brewing and there is a pretty loud beep beep beep to let you know it's done. If you don't hear the beep there is not a light to let you know it is ready, but if it's not making brewing noises it's pretty obvious. The only thing I don't like is the stay warm feature, but I am fussy about my coffee. I feel it gets that burnt taste if you leave it more than 15 min. It has a keep warm feature for 1 or 2 hrs. but I wouldn't use it, but that's just me.Read More

Described as having two permanent filters: Does this mean thatNO paper filters are required?
I use a paper filter but it does have the screened filters. so you don;t need to use a paper filter....just a little messier cleaning, but not a big deal I'd guess.
