More like a thick blanket
I wasn't expecting an inner spring mattress but from the description on the site I expected a little more than just a (not so) thick blanket. It is really thin. Barely protects you from the wood frame

The thickness of the mattress is thin enough that you feel the springs and rods of the futon through it. I'd recommend a thicker mattress.
