Customer Reviews
We got this piece and began assembly. Two pieces were wrong and one piece was missing entirely. The top had bubbles and chips. I sent it back. Do not buy this. Not worthy of Overstock.
This headboard arrived with no scratches or other damage. It is VERY HEAVY in the package - my brother is a strong guy and he preferred moving it with two people (which I'd recommend to avoid dropping it.) I put it together myself and was fairly pleased with the ease with which it went together. There was one missing stabilizer bracket - a cheap little part that I'll just pick up at Lowe's - nothing to complain about, and it'll hold together fine without it until I get it. The material, though heavy (and apparently sturdy - the assembly uses good techniques and fasteners), is finished with a laminate that seems it will scratch easily. I wouldn't use this in a kid's room or anywhere it would get banged against much. I was careful in putting it together because I was afraid of grit on the floor scratching it visibly. Workmanship was overall pretty good, with two exceptions - the lower half and upper half COULD NOT be attached completely square. It was close, but anyone who's mathematically/detail minded could see where it's off a bit. It won't affect the stability and the place where the discrepancy can be seen will be hidden by the pillows, but it bothers me a bit. The other thing is that the fold in the back panel is visible cutting across the large shelf openings. A quality panel would have been folded so the shelves themselves would hide the fold. One other note about the back panel - if you fasten it just around the edges, it won't lie flat across the middle. I carefully found the shelf lines and nailed it along several places along the vertical and horizontal to increase stability and keep small items from falling back between the shelves and the panel. If you try this, be careful - it's really easy to tap a nail through into empty space instead of a shelf. One other note - in order to tighten a couple of the bolt housings, you'll need a short-handled screwdriver. I was using a normal-handled one and couldn't completely tighten two places and had to go back later to finish it. The finished product looks great - the color is a beautiful dark espresso with a pleasant matte sheen - and all my housemates are jealous. =) The shelves are great, practical sizes for books, alarm clock, tissue box, and other things you want to keep nearby. Great for my room where I don't have a place for a nightstand. I only wish it was real wood so that the finish would last longer.
