I need a headboard for a space that is 65" wide, and this headboard is listed as 65.75" wide. I noticed that there are two decorative lips jutting out from both sides of the top shelf, though, and am wondering whether the bed could fit in my 65" space if I were to cut these off. Are the decorative lips included in the width dimension? Thank you!

My wife and I love this headboard. Where we are space saving is a must and all the shelves in this headboard give us more than what we need. Was concerned that it would not be wide enough for our queen sized bed based on measurements given but turns out it is just wider than the bed allowing for a great look. You won't be disappointed with this purchase. Assembly took 45min-1hrRead More
Bought this for my son's apartment. He put it together in about 40 minutes with no trouble. It looks more expensive than it is. Only drawback is it doesn't have holes to attach to bed frame. Guess you could drill your own, but he didn't care. Said it was heavy and solid enough not to move around.Read More
This product came in 5 boxes with a zillion screws and bolts. I, at first, was ready to hire someone to put this thing together, but my daughter (age 35) said that she thought she could do it. The instructions were excellent. The headboard was put together in less than an hour. The bed took longer, but was completely asembled in one afternoon. Although made of MDF, it is ver sturdy & looks great. Storage drawers operate smoothly. My only critism is that it would be nice if O.co stated in the description that this bed only requires a mattress & a box spring is not necessary. Other than that, thsi was a great shopping experience.Read More
OMG.... I LOVE My new headboard.... I have a very small house with ONE closet (that's right ONE) so finding space is a HUGE issue for me. This Headboard is perfect for my bedroom, it's not very wide, which is great, the height is perfect. Lots of storage space for books and pictures. It was really easy to put together, and it look a lot less time than what the manual suggested. The color is great and matched my other pieces (which was a concern), all the pieces were the same color, instructions are clear and easy to follow. If you're in need of space, I highly recommend this product (be warned - the box that it comes in, is VERY HEAVY - do not attempt to lift alone) I opened the box on the first floor and carried the pieces up a couple at a time. Oh, and all my friends that have seen it, love it too, they were surprised when I told them I got it from O.co and the price is great - fit my budget. Thank youRead More
The headboard is very pretty and practical for small areas, but putting it together is like constructing a jig saw puzzle. The instructions were easy but none of the boards are labeled. The material is very cheap and while assembling can be damaged with little effort.Read More
Headboard fit all my requirements for color, attractiveness, usefulness, style, and was fairly simple to put together. All parts needed were included and I'm very happy with the purchase.Read More
We bought this to take advantage of the wall space above our bed. We have a lot of books and not enough space in our apartment to buy full size bookcases. Although I'm pleased with the product, I will warn you that the back is a dinky cardboard like piece that you have to nail and the holes are NOT there! You need to figure it out yourself. I would have been happier if a few of the shelves were adjustable, but they are not. Still pleased although some of their other products are better.Read More
We're very happy with this purchase for the money we spent on it. I was not prepared to sink **** into a headboard, and this one turned out pretty great. The pieces line up pretty well- only one screw with a hole a bit further in than its supposed to be- hardly any exposed board on the front. I will say it scratches pretty easily and rocks some if it is leaned on- may need to be secured to the wall. Overall, with the quality of the piece and the purpose it serves, we got exactly what we asked for, it looks good, and it works perfectly!Read More

Questions & Answers
Hello smileykylie202, Overstock does not recommend that you alter the item. The space that you are trying to fit may be to small. Thank you for shopping Overstock.com; let us know if you have any additional questions.
There are two different dimensions listed in the Product Details: "Dimensions: 55.75 inches high x 65.75 inches wide x 10.25 inches deep" and "55.75 X 44.5 X 10.25" Queen size beds are 60", so if the first dimensions are not accurate it will be too short for my bed.
Hello meleeesa3, The correct dimensions are 55.75 inches high x 65.75 inches wide x 10.25 inches deep. Thank you for shopping with us!
The 44.5" one is probably for a double or single, not a queen. I have a queen one (55.75" wide). The measurements do not refer to the length of the bed, but the width. The first and last are the height of the headboard and the depth(between the wall and bed).
Will this headboard really work with the storage platform beds. We are looking at the double/queen size. Going by the measurements provided, it appears that most of the usable headboard space would be covered up by the platform.
Yes, this will work with storage platform beds that are in a full/queen size. Recent customer reviews confirm that this is a great fit.
Does this headboard attach to an existing queen sized bed frame with screws/nails/etc.?
Yes. The headboard attaches to your queen size bed. Assembly is required. This has a slant-back design

Best Bookshelf Materials
It's not unusual for bookshelves to incorporate multiple materials for different features. If you haven't decided on wood, wood products, metal or glass bookshelves, look at their relative strengths and weaknesses. Look below to learn the best bookshelf materials. Wood: "Solid wood" is a common term for furniture made from lumber planks. Beware of making assumptions based on labels like "hardwood" and "softwood." Hardwoods are derived from deciduous trees and softwoods from coniferous trees; the terms don't connote their relative strengths. Balsa is a hardwood even though it is very soft, just as Douglas fir is a softwood even though it is very hard. They all make excellent, classic stock material for bookcases. Generally, harder woods are the heavier and more resistant to scratches. Still, softer woods, if treated correctly, will keep just as well as harder woods. Plywood: Made by stacking thin sheets -- "plies" -- of lumber and gluing them under pressure, plywood features grains that alternate direction for strength. Several grades are available, of differing cost. Top and bottom plies can be high-quality woods to create the appearance of fine woods, but edge veneer or molding is needed to complete the illusion. Particleboard: Wood chips glued together carry a much lower price tag than solid wood, and particleboard is denser and more uniform. It's a great choice when cost is the primary consideration. Bookshelves crafted from veneered composite boards can look and feel as good as real wood. MDF: Wood fibers, tiny chips and sawdust collected and glued into sheets form medium-density fiberboard (MDF). Low-cost MDF makes an excellent base for veneers; plus, its strength is consistent and it shapes well. Metal: There's a reason most library bookshelves are made from metal: Metal bookcases are resistant to moisture and fungus, their low-friction shelves are easier on books' bindings and metal's strength-to-weight ratio can't be beat. Their cost usually comes in below any other material. Glass: Glass bookshelves weigh more than other types, but if you plan on assembling your bookshelves only once, the style points can be well worth it. Tempered glass shelves (in wood or metal uprights, called "standards") give your home an unbeatable contemporary feel, and glass bookcases' smooth, transparent surfaces add brilliant levity to a decorating piece that might otherwise be notably opaque and heavy.
