Ok. In case anyone else does this. When you get the unit and plug it in you will hear a very short quick beep. You will not see any power light illuminated. Now just press the power button for a second or two hold it in, and the unit will power on. I made the mistake of not doing this and called overstock too send me another unit. Of cousre I got too return the first one or I will be charged for it, but overstock does send you via email a UPS shipping label. So dont get brain twisted when you plug it in and hear beep and nothing more. Now push in the power button for two seconds. Hopes this helps someone else.

I looked for a few days online for a good deep fryer in a reasonable price range. I found this one. I have got to say that the filter works GREAT! I can not stand the smell of food cooking and this has really helped. The only thing I don't like about it, is it beeps pretty loud. I don't know if it can be adjusted, but the beep is louder than my microwave! But that is the only con to this deep fryer. My husband loves it!
