  • EXPENSIVE & BROKEN

This is a very nice EXPENSIVE looking expresso machine. We were having great latte's and cappuccino's and then the frothier began acting up (pressure coming and going), and then water was coming out of the bottom of the machine and pooling around the appliance. This is only 6 months into our purchase! The first time we called Impotika we were told to decalsify the machine. We did that and still had problems. The 2nd call they instucted us to return for repairs. The problem is that it will cost us close to $50 (if not more) to return and $29 to get back. We are now dropping close to $100 after spending $389.00. Crazy! Importika should be more responsive and stand behind their product.

First, I must be pleased with the Pixie, because after having it for two weeks, I ordered another! First, it's tiny. Even in our crowded kitchen, we found a place for it without stealing too much counter space. Second: It's fast. Really fast. Turn-on to blank shot to drinkable shot in less than two minutes; not that I time it. If you're new to espresso, this lets you have something beyond brewed coffee without huge expense, and without the disappointment of the swill you get from a $XX big-box "espresso/capuccino" maker. Is the espresso as good as from a high dollar machine with fresh-ground coffee? No. But it's good, it's consistent, and there are a huge variety of Nespresso and Nespresso-compatible capsules out there for it. It lets me add a shot to my morning or evening coffee quickly and relatively inexpensively. The second machine is for the office for the same purpose. There are discussions about compatibility with third-party capsules. I have had no issues with this...

  • a bit of work to get everything 'perfect'- BUT,,,,

After searching high and low, for a 'Mid range espresso machine', I finally pulled out the stops, on what I wanted to pay, and ordered this machine. I also purchased the Breville Perfect Grind Grinder, (For the same price, as the 'all in one', machine). I purchased both because, I didn't want to take the chance, of having one item on the machine break, rendering either part, unusable for any period of time, or having me pay extra for yet another item, that would need to be replaced. I quickly found out that, FRESH espresso beans, must be ground at the very moment of use....there must also be a certain fineness, to the grind. That being said, getting the precise grind, is the trick, but, it's well worth the patience when, you do find that sweet spot,,, it does pay off. And, it pays off BIG TIME! Just unpacking these machines, tell you that you bought from a company that has substance and quality in their eyesight. The portafilter alone, screams QUALITY! From the water filter that...

Like most Nespresso fans, I discovered this on vacation, as my hotel room had the Essenza version. I did my research and felt that I would take a risk with a MUCH less expensive refurb model, from Overstock, going with the higher end Citiz version as opposed to the U, Essenza or Pixie. I like the fact that it's solid on the counter, looks kinda fancy, and the middle tray flips up so a regularly-sized mug can sit flat underneath waiting to get filled up. I chose the titanium gray because the pic on the website showed the newer version of the Citiz, (the spout is a flat, upside down teardrop shape), and that's what I got, although I really wanted the black. But happily, the gray looks really cool with the chrome and black accents. It's a very DARK gray, almost charcoal...very sharp...a nice touch with soapstone counters. Ok, so out of the box.... It comes with a nice pack of instructions, manuals and a warranty. The warranty has a phone number and a PERSON answers when you call ...

A friend had reccomended Nespresso but I was dubious until I saw overstock had refurbished models for less. It has been amazing. I have a delicious latte in less than 2 minutes. I've even been waking up early to savor it. Just very hopeful it will continue long past the 6 month warranty.
