I bought this Breville Espresso Maker for my husband for Christmas. I researched Espresso makers for a week before I decided on the Breville Infuser Espresso maker. The machine is beautiful, well built with Stainless Steel. The instructions were clear and fairly easy to follow for a first time espresso maker like me. It heats up Fast and is ready to use almost as soon as you put it on. The Milk Frothier works perfectly and doesn't spray the milk all over like other frothiers I've used. My husband says it taste better than the coffee shop and saves him money and time. It only takes a few minutes to make it for him. I use the instant hot water for my tea. Well worth the price and makes my kitchen look even more beautiful.

After searching high and low, for a 'Mid range espresso machine', I finally pulled out the stops, on what I wanted to pay, and ordered this machine. I also purchased the Breville Perfect Grind Grinder, (For the same price, as the 'all in one', machine). I purchased both because, I didn't want to take the chance, of having one item on the machine break, rendering either part, unusable for any period of time, or having me pay extra for yet another item, that would need to be replaced. I quickly found out that, FRESH espresso beans, must be ground at the very moment of use....there must also be a certain fineness, to the grind. That being said, getting the precise grind, is the trick, but, it's well worth the patience when, you do find that sweet spot,,, it does pay off. And, it pays off BIG TIME! Just unpacking these machines, tell you that you bought from a company that has substance and quality in their eyesight. The portafilter alone, screams QUALITY! From the water filter that comes with the machine, (yes you must purchase more at some point, as well as cleaning tablets), but it also comes with a set of cleaning tools, a Tamper, a milk pitcher, a quick start guide (as well as a full on book of, how to's, to get the machine, up and running, the way you need it to). It has a huge holding tank, for water. And, Even though it uses a filter, I also use filtered water from my fridge, to fill the tank. *My ONLY 'complaint' was that the machine was purging water, at the start up and at the finish of pulling a shot. This was slightly annoying because, the holding tank at the bottom of the machine, would fill up faster, than I had hoped for (on a side note, when it gets filled too much, up pops a warning for you to "Empty Me" a GREAT idea, because I certainly know that I would forget to check it!). However, step in Brevill's top notch customer service, and they assured me that, the purging was normal ,(the book stated that only certain machines did this purge after a pull of a shot, and that mine was only supposed to purge after using the hot water dispenser - yes that is right - if you want espresso and the spouse wants tea, you can have both in a moments time! Anyway, they told me that after much looking into the problem in question, the Infuser indeeds purges because they want to make sure that you get clean fresh water, for each and every shot. No water stays in any of the tubing, and the machine will purge to make sure of this. If this means that I must empty the holder a bit more often, for better cleaner water for my morning Latte,,,then so be it. Onto the coffee! - This is the very first machine that I have used that actually tastes EXACTLY like a Starbucks made confection! Both Hot and Cold Lattes are just like the $6.00 cups that you find at the better stores. I now use the single wall, double shot basket, and steam about 12-14 oz of milk for my morning Latte. What I REALLY love is that, if I want to make another espresso exactly right after I just pulled a shot for my morning latte, to make one for the hubby, all I have to do is tap out the grinds,,,,place the portafilter into the grinder, tamp it down, and lock it into the machine,,,with a singe push of the button, I have now pulled two double shots in just a short moment,,,other machines, that I have tried this with, have purged hot steam onto my hands! This was VERY dangerous and scary,,,,the Breville machine, doesn't blink an eye, at the fact that you are asking it to do what you want it to! I have no fear if I ever have guests over for after dinner coffees now! It is expensive,,,,it is. Especially if you purchase the grinder,,,,but is is worth it? I say YES,,,each and EVERY morning or afternoon that I use this machine,,,the product that comes out really is that yummy!. I also found a very tasty whole espresso bean, at XX XXXXXX, (it's in a 2.2lb. Blue Bag, I am out right now so I cannot think of the name. But, I do think that, it is better than XXXXXXXX,,,,if I can no longer find these beans, I will go back to the XXXXXXXXXX beans,,,I would not suggest using a pre-ground (although they say that his is fine as well as the PODS of espresso), or a low quality bean in this machine. As I have found out with the machines themselves, (from XXXXXXXXX to, XX XXXXXXX , to another higher end brand from XXXXXX years ago, as well as four different types of Moka pots), they just don't build up the pressure needed, for a great Latte,,,and the Breville fits this bill,,,so why shouldn't your espresso beans, also fit that bill? If you are looking for not only a BEAUTIFUL Machine, but one that actually tastes the way a coffee house coffee does, then this is what you want!

this machine did well at my household but really gave up short of two years. Its a cheaper version of the Gaggia Classic. I keep in mind certain factors at my home, used daily by several family members, hard water in our area also. It was that reason I took extra steps to keep things optimized, such as purchasing the internal filters and using bottled water, and using decalcafier on regular basis. the machine does make a good espresso//latte. is easy to use and keep clean and looks nice sitting on your counter. I really liked this maker yet was considering an upgrade. So one morning, I go to use this and the water is cold. It will cost me *** to have it serviced. I decided to send it in to repair anyway, because its gonna cost me to buy another, so while I'm boxing it up, I notice something loose rattling inside...I figured its the repair dept's problem now and finishing my packaging. I cannot complain too much as it wasn't that pricey, it more than paid for itself, I just wish it lasted longer, perhaps with a lighter use household it might have. The only thing I didnt like with this was although it came with a ese pod filter, I didnt see much success with it even trying different brands and roasts, it was always inconsistent results with the pods. it does make good drinks with the ground coffee depending on what you're working with, I liked using the standard non-pressurized filter while the others prefer the pressurized ones. I decided to have it fixed to give the brand of Gaggia another chance, and to have it as a backup. In the meantime, I bought a refurbished Breville to see if I like that brand and style better. I have owned a couple of those little countertop espresso makers in the past so this Gaggia New Baby was my first heavy machine, my daughter who just moved out wanted it when it gets repaired. Its actually a good starter machine for those that are tired of waiting in line and shelling out outrageous amounts at the drive through stand for that coffee treat, so I would recommend this for a first time user, but maybe not for a bigger family.

this unit was a little bit more expensive then I wanted to spend but the quality was w the product itself. The unit itself is easy to operate the instructions are easy to follow and for a person who loves a rich heavy espresso, it fits the bill every morning.

Really disappointed in this machine. It looks awesome. It has all kinds of great features and accessories included. Looks like a miniature version of a commercial machine. Very heavy duty and well-designed! But it does not make consistent or decent tasting coffee. In the end, that's all that counts. I spent over 8 hours and 6 bags of expensive coffee discovering this. Spent time on the phone with the Breville customer service people. They are extremely friendly and helpful, which makes me even more disappointed that my machine wouldn't perform. I was very scientific about grind, tamping pressure (which I measured on scale), coffee amount, etc.. The beans I used were fresh roasted and recommended by Breville. I documented all my settings to try and hone in on that "perfect" cup. All I could get was undrinkable (either over or under extracted) espresso. And it wasn't even consistent from shot to shot with the same settings. Very difficult to get drinkable espresso even with the pressurized cups. I know that other people have raved about this machine. And it won a Product of the Year award. So probably, it is just my machine that has problems (something with the thermoblock or the pump or the solenoid??). But I don't have enough time to try a new one and go through all this experimenting again. Thankfully, the folks at Overstock were very accommodating. They are taking it back, and I will buy something new from them. I love this website. Thank you Overstock.

My husband and I read a zillion reviews of this and other espresso machines and compared notes. We arrived at the same conclusion: it's the very best choice in its price point and category. After using it for about three weeks, we are convinced that we made a good purchase. It's easy to use and the espresso is great. It looks good on the counter and it's fairly easy to maintain. The only problem is that it makes our French Press taste like swamp water!

After years of using my Breville, the steam wand quit working. I was hesitant to spend a lot of money on another machine so I scoured reviews of less expensive models. I first ordered a Delonghi (not from this site) and it was junk. It was so lightweight that it flew across the counter when I locked the basket in place. This Cuisinart feels almost as heavy duty as my Breville. It's substantial (about 25 pounds, I guess). The water filter is convenient to fill and the machine is gorgeous (stainless). The pre-programmed buttons (I use the doubleshot) are a little off by default, but it's not a big deal since you can stop the pour or re-program the buttons. I use espresso-specific shot glasses and they overflowed. The steam wand is pretty good - you can remove the foaming attachment to minimize foam production. I don't like a lot of foam so this is perfect. The only flaw I can find in this machine is that the steam wand isn't fully mobile. It swings side to side, but not up and down. I prefer full mobility so I can use different foaming pitchers without restriciton, but it's not that big a problem. I can still foam milk without any problems. This is a great, inexpensive machine that looks and acts like one much more expensive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to someone new or experienced with espresso machines.

I am very happy with the frothing action of this machine but find it difficult to get a deep flavor in the espresso. I am continuing to experiment. It looks great on my kitchen counter!

I got this product two to three weeks ago. My husband and I are addicted to this machine. He is experimenting different ways in making himself a delicious cup every morning. It is very easy to use. However, we haven't been able to get the perfect taste yet. We are still in our learning stage. I used to get my cup at Starbucks few times a week. Now I am actually saving money. I would recommend this to any coffee lover. This machine is amazing.

We were looking for a commercial grade/quality double boiler machine at an affordable price. The Breville is a sturdy and attractive design. It was fairly easy to learn out of the box and the coffee has been consistently great. The machine was a bit higher than we had thought, but it still fits under the cabinets. We did a lot of research on these machines before purchasing - and could not find any other maker of double boilers (which is critical for coffee and steam at the same time) on the market in this price range. Plus the look/design is very clean. Be sure you do NOT mistake the 920BSXL with the 900 version. The 900 version has many reviews citing issues with performance. Many of the design and performance issues of the 900 appear to have been solved with the 920. We are pleased with our purchase and would recommend.

Purchased this as a gift for my husband. I received a $XXX coffee grinder instead of what I actually ordered. I was charged for the product I ordered ($XXX) and NOT for the product I received. I have no idea why no one called me or emailed me to let me know that the product I had ordered was temporarily out of stock. How was a random product sent to me just like that? One month later I am STILL waiting for my refund. This is annoying and unacceptable.
