I’m what you might call an “archaeological bounty hunter.” For more than three decades, I have traveled the world in search of the rarest, most exquisite, most desired pieces of material culture left by ancient societies to sell to the world’s top museums and private collectors. And no matter how beautiful, how remarkable, how utterly jaw-dropping the treasure -- whether it be a paleolithic tool from the Atapuerca Mountains, an engraved 8th-century B.C. Assyrian pot or the marble head of a Ptolemaic queen from ancient Greece -- it always looks better when a client is over and I am sitting in this chair, and after telling them exactly how I found it, slowly open the storage ottoman to reveal the piece. Their eyes widen to size of Yuan dynasty serving platters. This chair. This ottoman. I love them almost as much as my 6th-century Tiwanaku feline incense vessel.

We just purchased this chair for our living room. I was hesitant to purchase a leather chair online, but it seemed like a good deal, and the picture looked like what we wanted. The chair is fine. It looks relatively nice for how inexpensive it is. Our problem was not the appearance, but rather that it arrived with one of the arms broken. The worst part is that it is evident someone along the supply chain attempted to fix what is obviously a defective arm, and they failed. A section of the arm that is apparently nailed into the body of the chair is completed separated from the arm, exposing a board of nails. LIke I said, it's obvious from the number of different nail holes in the wood that someone along the supply chain tried to fix what was obviously broken. The fact that it arrived to us in this condition is therefore even more disappointing, because they can't even claim ignorance to its defect. It's too bad, the chair is fine looking, but now we have to go through the huge pain of returning three enormous boxes, one of which weighs close to 70 lbs. Not worth the pain at all.

We were hesitant at first to purchase a leather chair online without seeing it's quality in person but decided to take our chances. The chair came less than a week after we ordered it, was easy to assemble & has that great leather smell! Although it is not as comfortable as we would have liked it, it is beautiful to look at & adds a rich quality to our living room! I would def recommend this product to another buyer!

Bought two of these four years ago and the bi-cast leather is peeling. Very comfortable but doesn't look good after several years of use.

Big, bold and extremely comfortable, this reclining club chair and ottoman duo has changed my daily life. It is my favorite place to sit and relax. There are two things I love about these pieces. First of all, the reclining back is so wonderful. It makes this chair a great place to take a quick nap. Secondly, the ottoman doesn’t only add comfort, but also much needed storage. I keep a blanket in there for those aforementioned naps!

Ok. Stop searching and comparing chairs all over the internet. This is the One. I'm a 265 lb, 5'10" apple of a man, there is 3" on each side of my love handles when i sit in this chair, the arms are perfect height and the recline mechanisim is the friction drag type, which is the same type that those lazy furniture people make. Boy the use is great. The wife is 150 lbs and 5-4", perfect no complaints from her either. we love the chair and it is the leather feel i know you are looking for. oh the ottoman is a very good quality too. just in case your wondering...no i'm not a salesperson, i'm a regular person on a tight budget.

Its seems lately my wife and I have had really good luck taking a chance and buying online which always makes me nervous especially with expensive items such as this. The appearance of this recliner and ottoman is outstanding . We definately got more then what we paid for so value is outstanding to. As far as assembly.....unpacking it was the hardest part. The one down fall I had with this purchase was the way the chair reclines. Its comfortable in the upright position or down position but the lever is difficult to access and work. Its located between the inner part of the armrest and seat cushion so you have to stick your hand down and fish for the lever. Thats the only negative about this entire purchase.

This chair came quickly, was packed securely, and I was so excited to get it, that I decided to put it together myself before my husband came home. It only took me about twenty minutes. The chair is great. It's comfortable and well made for the money. The color is very dark brown, darker than the picture. If you are planning to put the chair where the back will be in full view, please note that there is a flap that opens in the back, and it's not the best to look at. I am very happy with this purchase, it was so easy and I really like the chair.

I purchased two of these. Beautiful chairs, extremely well packed, a breeze to assemble even for one person (the hardest part getting the pieces out of the protective packing) and roomy and comfortable to sit in. Same set is 400$ more on a shopping network. DHL delivered in two weeks. Very pleased with purchase. You can't go wrong with these.

One of the biggest lessons about business I learned from my 8-year-old son. He told me that when he makes big decisions -- like about what color bicycle to ask Santa for Christmas, or about what to name his pet goldfish -- he finds that he makes the best decisions, the ones which end up proving to be the right ones, in his “comfy thinking place,” which is his treehouse in the backyard. This reclining club chair is my “comfy thinking place.” I have made many of best decisions while sitting in it. The best feature of this chair and ottoman set? Total serenity.

My new club chair is ultra comfortable. It looks like I went back in time and found it in an old style English pub. But it’s got that new look to it: that glossy leather and great styling. It reclines slightly, so it’s wonderful for kicking back and resting. The matching ottoman is a great place to put up my feet, too. And that ottoman has a storage area that holds a lot of stuff. It’s a great contemporary chair with old fashioned style.

Ordered on a Friday and rec'd the next Wednesday. The chair was relatively easy to put together - but the reclining feature does not seem to work. I pull the lever underneath the seat, and the hinges which hold the back in place do not move at all. Also, there is no way to tightly fasten the back of the chair to the seat, so it seems very wobbly. If anyone has experienced these problems, please post a review that can help. If I can't figure it out or if the product is defective, I'm sure it will be a joy to return ~130 pounds of chair. Ugh...

I've always wanted to buy a nice leather club chair/recliner. A man chair (I call it). But everything that I saw was way too expensive. I just could not justify buying a $2000.00+ chair. I had been checking this chair out on Overstock for a long time. So, when the offer was right (the price went down a little and I got a 7% off coupon), I deceided to buy it. The delivery time was awsome. I ordered on Monday and got it on Friday. The chair was well packaged. No damages. The assembly was very easy. I know that some people had some issues since there was no instructions included, but it took me all of 5 minutes to figure it out and anohter 20 minutes to put it together. All the holes/bolts lined up perfectly. It is a very nice looking, confortable chair. The Ottoman is awsome. Very nice and soft. The only negative I would say, is that it is a little darker than it appers on the website. It is almost black. I love the color brown, and was expecting it to be a little lighter. But, besides that, I love the chair.

The chair is great. My husband has wanted a leather chair for years, but we didn't want to pay high end retail. This is huge value for your buck. He absolutely loves it. It's comfortable and stylish. We were hesitant buying online, but the reviews really helped. The color is a very dark beautiful brown. Ignore the shipping freight policy, there's no call, no signature, no tracking. It is actually a drop shipment from another company. Fed Ex Ground leaves it on your doorstep. The ottoman box showed up first, then the next day, the 2 chair boxes came. (We almost had overstock send us another one, wondering where the rest of it was.) Thanks for the installation instructions in the other review. My husband understood it, but for people like me that need more details, I'll add this: Take the seat bottom, sit it up on its side so you can see the underside and the leather front is on top. Pull back the velcroed material to expose the inside. Note the holes inside on the wood panels, this is where the screws go in to connect to the chair sides. There are also wood pegs; first hammer the wood pegs through farther. Next get a chair side - it has holes to receive the pegs and screws. Now match the pegs sticking out with the pegs holes on chair side (it helps to have 2 people for this part). Now you can put the screws through from the inside of the seat part to the chair sides. Then repeat for the other chair side. Then just connect the chair back onto the chair seat.

This is a fantastic set. I couldn't be more pleased.. Both pieces are, sturdy, comfortable and beautiful, genuine top grain leather throughout. The chair is very easy to assemble, but directions aren't included. For those who haven't assembled a leather chair before: lay the seat bottom on end, front up; attach sides (line up dowels with their holes if drilled, then fasten side tightly by using screws in other holes); screw in legs ; right the chair, and carefully push the back on, making sure it is level. Voila!

The chair and ottoman are very nice and a good quality leather. However, there were no directions on how to assemble the chair. I still have not figured out how to get the recliner slide piece to work correctly, so my chair is stuck in one position. The holes for the screw bolts also do not all line up, so out of six screws, only four are attached.

I bought this chair many months ago in anticipation of our house being built. This weekend we were finally able to open the boxes and put it together. I must admit that I was very nervous. After all these months- what would I do if something was wrong? Would I even be able to return it? To my delight, I do not have to worry about any of that. The chair came extremely secure. There was nothing broken, ripped, etc. Assembly was a breeze. I actually put it together all by myself and the finished product is amazing! It is a great size- not too big, not too small. The quality is fantastic as well. Smooth, soft leather (actual leather) and a wonderful color. Although, I will agree that it is a bit difficult to get to the recline lever.... The storage in the ottoman is also quite roomy. Most impotantly, my husband also loves it- which says a lot since he is extremely picky!

The color is true to the picture, a very dark brown espresso. The leather is shiny and there is absolutely no give or softness to the seat cushion or arm cushion. It is extremely hard. You will not sink into this chair but rather sit on top.

NIce chair. I had some trouble with shipment not going out. I called customer service and they corrected the problem. Also some difficulty with essembly. Worth the price.
