I love the look of this table and think it's a good value for the price. *However,* it was a total PITA to put together and in the process of trying to get all the dowels to sit properly in the table top, parts of the top cracked a bit on the sides. :/ Also, this table is 2-3" taller than standard table height! Who does that??? My dad is going to hack off a few inches on the bottom of the legs for us because we all look like kids trying to sit at the grown-up table. Again, I love the look, by no way would I buy it again if I had the choice.Read More

The table arrived in very good shape. The look is great. It's very sturdy. Assembly instructions were poor so it's advisable to have some knowledge of furniture assembly. Buyers should be very aware of the height of the table. It is 32" high. That's three inches higher than your standard table which is 29". Believe me, when you sit down you will feel like a kid sitting at an adult's table. Get some chairs that sit high if you want to be comfortable at this lovely looking piece of furniture.Read More
With only one review of this table here on Overstock, and one less-than-glowing review of it on another HUGE online retailer (one that started pretty strictly with books, but now sells its own e-reader and a whole slew of other things), I wasn't quite sure whether or not to risk placing an online order for this table, but over the course of a few days of online dining room table shopping, I kept finding myself coming back to this table on Overstock. Really, it was the legs that did it for me. I love, Love, LOVE the fact that this table is made of beautiful, solid wood, and found myself stunned by just how beautiful the wood and its stained finish are upon removing each piece from the box when it arrived (which only took four business days, even traveling pretty much across the country). The fact that everything for this large table came in one not-so-wide box, though, did make me worry that the assembly was going to be too much for me solo. Really, it turned out to be perfectly manageable, thankfully! The table has to essentially be assembled in layers. First is the table top itself, then the frame for the table top, so you need to be sure that you have enough clear space for essentially double the width of the table, since you'll be laying the table top out, then doing the same in a separate space for the frame, which you'll then need to place over the underside of the table top. About the only place that I really could've used another hand was in laying the frame over the underside of the table's surface. It's there that you need to ensure that all of the holes in the frame have been properly lined up with the short little dowels that you'd needed to insert into the holes on the tabletop's underside (after applying some wood glue to EACH hole, for stability and a little reinforcement). Long story short, there IS a lot of assembly involved in this table, but it's worth it for the price alone. If you tried to buy this table in your local retail store, I have no doubt in my mind that you'd pay at least double or triple Overstock's price for it. One thing that did bug me a bit once I laid that frame over the tabletop was how the frame and the way that the holes weren't lined up perfectly ended up pushing apart the three foot-wide slats that make up the tabletop. Granted, it was probably about 2 millimeters of distance that were added between each of the three slats, but that's still two millimeters of a gap in two places where there weren't any gaps when I initially laid everything out. It was this issue that ended up being the reason for the negative review on that other site for this same table. However, the issue with the gaps is easily remedied with the addition of a table runner (in my case, I have a plasticized Provencale fabric table cloth with lots of sentimental value that I just ended up folding into thirds and laying over the center of the table). Problem solved. The only other issue that I had with this table was the fact that, as the other reviewer mentioned, it DOES sit higher than standard tables. I was able to remedy that by asking a friend of mine with some power tools to cut off the bottom two inches from each leg. He didn't end up cutting them perfectly straight, but on my carpeted floor, it really doesn't matter, and taking away those two inches has made this table the PERFECT height for adults. Overall, I couldn't be happier with this table, its beautiful, quality solid wood, and the gorgeous, solid, thick legs with their beautiful detail. Retailers could easily ask for more for a table like this, but with my low teacher's budget, I'm SO glad that Overstock didn't! I'm so proud to have this table in my home, and look forward to showing it off as much as possible! It's gorgeous, and with two sets of the mushroom-colored upholstered Microfiber Parson's chairs (item #10480712), it's a very elegant update to my dining room. The Parson's chairs are unfortunately NOT a perfect match in wood tone (they remind me more of a cherry than the deep, dark stain on this table), but they're a great, comfy complement to a stunning table! Now I just need to start planning more dinner parties!Read More
