The pad does grip and hold the rug in place. It does not add any padding, which was good for me as this is used in a hallway. If you would want padding, this isn't the product for you.

Get something better
from Queens, NY,  Apr 13, 2011

First, it does not stay put and bunches underneath the hall runner area rugs I used them for. After a year and nine months of using this product, I decided to install carpeting. Upon removing the rugs and mat, there are visible dots and box outlines from the mat marring the wood floors.

Perfect Rug Pad
from Jersey Shore,  Jan 8, 2010

Absolutely no complaints. I'm using it under a runner in the hallway and it stays in place effortlessly. I have 2 large dogs and they have not been able to move the rug with the pad underneath. I highly recommend it.

Wonderful Gripper!
from Boston, MA,  Dec 14, 2009

I tried BOTH the expensive and less expensive Grip Rug Pads, and can honestly say that especially for a Runner, this does an excellent job, & assures the safety of all who enter your home. This is absolutely adequate for entry areas and passages in my humble opinion, and is SO reasonably priced. Enjoy!

Great for Rugs
from Amarillo, Texas,  Dec 7, 2009

This grip is something needed with your rug. I have wood floors and this really helps the rug not to move. It stays in place even with my grandkids running and playing with toys.

I am "okay" with this product, but have found them cheaper in local stores. I would NOT pay this price again.

Environmentally-friendly Grip Rug Pad (2' x 8')
from Bedford, Texas,  Apr 2, 2012

Needed opportunity to give my own measurements, I was held to measurements offered, but needed more measurements. I purchased anyway because wanted a pad that would not be toxic to my flooring. They work well to avoid rug slipping, and it does give it good cushion-y feel for the carpet.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? excellent
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Good, could have been thicker pad.
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Description needed to explain the pad to be not so thick, but otherwise good.

I bought two different runner pads at the same time. This one is far superior. Perfectly cut to fit right out of the bag. Nicely cushioned and no odor.

Ta-da! No more rug slipping, and ecological, too
from Greater San Francisco Bay Area,  Nov 10, 2011

This rug pad is exactly what I needed to keep the hallway hemp rug runner from slipping - in an environmentally friendly way. The rug pad grips so well that it's almost like plastic wrap: it grips onto itself when being moved from its packaging to the floor, and then grips the rug before the rug is positioned just right. So it takes a little maneuvering at first, but is well worth the effort after that. Highly recommended.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Color was about the same but doesn't matter because it's under the rug
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. Seems high quality - should last a long time
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? Very accurate product description

Nice on hardwoods
 from Pennsylvania,  Mar 10, 2011

I purchased this item for under a runner. It is a non-slip pad, not a cushion. It is perfect for under a tufted rug. Being eco-friendly was a plus. Just had to unfold, lay it on the floor, and place the runner on top ~done! Could not have been simpler. Two large labs have not been able to move the rug, so it is doing it's job.

Environmentally Friendly Grip Rug Pad
from Las Vegas,  Sep 29, 2010

I bought two of the rug pads for bedside rugs and liked them so well that I purchased another for the hallway rug runner. I like the fact that they are environmentally firendly and there is no slippage at all as there was with my previous rug pads.

Not that great
from Sedona, AZ,  Apr 21, 2010

These rug pads should be more corrected called "grips" as there is VERY LITTLE padding here. I purchased the same type of product from Walmart several years ago and the price was very low. The Overstock variety is about the same or perhaps only slightly better, however the price is way too high for this type of quality.

Not worth the price.
 from Texas,  Apr 18, 2010

I've found similar for a considerably lower price. This is not padding, in my opinion...it is more like those gripping shelf liners, which cost much less...in some local stores, made of recyclable--environmentally friendly--materials. I do not recommend unless you live in a small town where local shopping is limited.

Useful!
from Boston, MA,  Apr 4, 2010

These are a must with wool rugs on wood floors to stop the rugs from wandering. I've bought several of this brand, in various sizes, and they do their job with a minimum of chemical smells emitted from them.

Works great!
from Rapid City, SD,  Feb 14, 2010

Wish it came in a longer size. I bought 3 for 2 - 14 ft runners that I also purchased here. Cut one of them in half. Still works great. Runner never slips.

Environmentally-friendly Grip Rug Pad
from Portland, OR,  Dec 31, 2009

I bought two fantastic runner rugs, for the upstairs hallway, from OverStock and then realized that grip pads were necessary to keep them from sliding. Whenever possible, I've started choosing environmentally friendly products. Since O offered one, it was a No Brainer. I give a 5 star rating because the pads do what they are intended to do and since I was buying two, the price was very reasonable. On the down side, they are made in China. My New Year's resolution, for 2010, is to be conscious of where products are made and to try buying more Made in the USA and a whole lot less of Made in China products.

Great Grippers
from Durham, CT,  Nov 12, 2009

I really didn't expect these rug grippers (I purchased 2 for 2 different runners) to be anything different from the ones I've purchased in home improvement and discount stores. I just needed them, and Overstock was the cheapest and easiest way to get them. I realized after I put them under the runners that they are much better than other rug pads I've purchased. I thought they would just help with the rug slipping (which they do very nicely), but they actually add padding to the rug. I thought only the thick rug-like pads did that. I'm very happy. Now my nice runners feel even better under foot. And I love the fact that they're eco friendly. My only advice is to get it the size you need or a little larger to cut it to size. Because they do such a nice job padding, you'll notice when you step on part of the rug that doesn't have this under it - I'd want them to extend to just an inch or so from the rug's border on all sides. That would probably be perfect. All in all, a very worthwhile product!

excellent!
from Simi Valley, CA,  Sep 3, 2009

I ordered these rug pads in 3 different sizes and they work perfectly on bamboo floors under area rugs as well as on porcelain tile in the bathrooms under bath rugs. Very easy to cut them to size too. They seemed pricey to me at first but after checking other stores I realized Overstock's prices are the best (unless you want the cheapest, thinnest rug pads that you'll probably need to replace after 6 months). These are excellent rug pads at an unbeatable price. ;)
