The shade color is just as it's pictured. The quality was nicer than expected: heavier, clear glass globes, and a solid base. I've seen similar lamps in stores and this one seemed more solid. The packing was excellent and the lamp post easily screwed together. It has a nice, up-scale look.
Overall I was very happy with my purchase, however when I got the lamp the shade had a REALLY BAD DENT IN IT I'm trying to get it replaced, but overall it is a beautiful lamp.
The assembly of the lamp could not be easier. Nice weight and look. The complaint I have is that my lamp is bent! At first we thought maybe the floor where the lamp sat was sloped, but upon closer inspection it's the lamp. Where the lower sphere section meets the middle sphere section (you simply screw them together), the mount where they screw together is mounted wrong (off center). Therefore, the lamp is straight about half way up, then slants quite a bit at the top. Now, when I look at the lamp, that's all I notice. So, before you throw away the packaging, please take a really good look at yours. Besides that, I'm very happy with the lamp.
