Bought this chair and overall I guess I am okay with it. Not ecstatic but not overly disappointed.
Pros:
- Assembly was very, very easy
- Very large chair, love the size
- While other reviewers have been unhappy with the color of the cushions, I like it and it was a perfect match for one of the colors in a tapestry love seat that I have in the same room. In fact, I took an accent pillow from the loveseat and put it on the chair, looks great.
Cons:
- As other reviewers have noted, the plastic/rubber bolt cover caps are ridiculously cheap looking and in no way match the stain of the chair. This alone is why I cannot give the appearance a 5 star rating.
- Both dowels were broken off on one side (front) of the seat bottom so I ended up pulling one from the other side and just using one on each side.
- Two areas on wood were damaged and rather then jack with sending back, etc. I used a stain pen to correct. The location where I have the chair makes these areas not really noticeable otherwise I would be sending back.
- On the under side of the chair, the holes drilled for the pre-assembled seat bottom have many shredded pieces of wood, why they couldnt take a quick sander to it is beyond me.
Overall it is a good chair although it would NEVER retail at the $800 listed as "Compare at", Considering the requirement of self assembly, some less than steller craftmanship and those dang rubber caps, this is a $200 chair at best. If you can get it on sale or have a coupon, I say it is a decent purchase, otherwise, keep looking.
