This page says the "Fabric is a beautiful sage green hue with highs and lows in the pattern," but what arrived was called "Silver Mink" (not mentioned anywhere on the page when I ordered it, or when I double checked upon receiving my chair) and is most definitely taupe. It doesn't have a single hint of green in it. So if you're looking for a green chair, keep looking. If you're looking for a taupe chair, it's a very nice, soft chenille fabric. Also, the wood is very nice-looking, but there are a few plastic plugs/caps to cover the screw holes...they're a cheap brown plastic. It doesn't jump out at you, but it doesn't exactly go with the wood, either. Other than that, though, the chair is great. It's wide enough to curl up in, and the cushion is very firm but still comfortable. One note on the cushions--they are completely separate from the chair itself, so easily re-covered, which is what I will be doing since I like the rest of the chair.

Okay I guess.....
 from Dallas,  Mar 21, 2008

Bought this chair and overall I guess I am okay with it. Not ecstatic but not overly disappointed. Pros: - Assembly was very, very easy - Very large chair, love the size - While other reviewers have been unhappy with the color of the cushions, I like it and it was a perfect match for one of the colors in a tapestry love seat that I have in the same room. In fact, I took an accent pillow from the loveseat and put it on the chair, looks great. Cons: - As other reviewers have noted, the plastic/rubber bolt cover caps are ridiculously cheap looking and in no way match the stain of the chair. This alone is why I cannot give the appearance a 5 star rating. - Both dowels were broken off on one side (front) of the seat bottom so I ended up pulling one from the other side and just using one on each side. - Two areas on wood were damaged and rather then jack with sending back, etc. I used a stain pen to correct. The location where I have the chair makes these areas not really noticeable otherwise I would be sending back. - On the under side of the chair, the holes drilled for the pre-assembled seat bottom have many shredded pieces of wood, why they couldnt take a quick sander to it is beyond me. Overall it is a good chair although it would NEVER retail at the $800 listed as "Compare at", Considering the requirement of self assembly, some less than steller craftmanship and those dang rubber caps, this is a $200 chair at best. If you can get it on sale or have a coupon, I say it is a decent purchase, otherwise, keep looking.

Ellis Chair
from Aurora, IL,  Apr 9, 2008

We like the looks and colors of the two chairs that matched an earlier Ellis sofa that we purchased. They are wide enough to curl up in and are high enough to give my big husband plenty of leg room making it ease for both of us to get out of the chairs. We had some problems assembling the chairs because one of the pegs was broken and we had to re-glue the peg back into the chair assemble. One of the bolt fasteners embedded within the top of the chair frame broke free while tightening the side piece. Further investigation showed that the two pieces were not aligned properly thus causing the stress on this fastener. Used ¿gorilla glue¿ to reattach the fastener to the chair assemble and now the chair is fine.

Beautiful Chair
 from Vermont,  Jul 12, 2011

I just love this chair. It sits by the large french doors, facing east, overlooking the mountain sides. It's a great place for a cup of morning coffee on cold winter days.

Ratings Matter
from Chicago, IL,  Jun 13, 2008

The chair is almost perfect. It is oversized, as expected. It was delivered quickly and with no damage. My biggest issue is the plastic plugs that cover the screws. If these had been wood, I would have given the chair 5 stars for everything. Being plastic, which does not match the color of the wood, it cheapens the look of the chair. It is a solid piece of furniture though. Ironically, someone had mentioned this in their review as well. If I had read it I might not have ordered the chair.

Easy to Assemble and perfect size
 from Iowa,  Jun 3, 2008

I am pleased, but the depth is closer to 37" (not 32"). Front leg to back leg depth is about 32", but the back leans about another 5 inches. So, if you're buying this chair to fit a certain spot in your room, make sure you have enough depth in the room available. I would have given it 5 stars if it was 32" deep...but since it's 37" deep it doesn't fit in the location I had planned. I assembled myself easily in 20 minutes (that's with two 'helpers' running around popping the bubble wrap). All hardware and instructions were present. All screw holes and dowel holes matched up well enough. I felt lucky. First, I laid an arm on it's side and attached the seat. Then I attached the back to that arm. Finally attached the last arm to it all. Easy peasy. Color is a perfect taupe (I see no green hue whatsoever, but we have poor lighting). Size is large enough for me to sit with my legs pulled up (I'm 6' 1") plus a 4 yr old on my lap. My 5 and 4 yr olds enjoyed sitting on it together. My husband and I swore never to buy cheap furniture again -- but we really don't have the money to invest in a true quality chair. But this feels sturdy, and it is comfortable with a throw pillow used as lumbar support.

Fantastic Value! Great Chair
from Orange County, CA,  Jun 3, 2008

This is an amazing value. Any other rattan and wood chair out there with cushions would be at least twice this price. This s a beautiful chair. It is large, but fits in the corner of my bedroom perfectly. It's very deep and extremely comfortable. The cushions are very nice quality. The are not green as they appear, they are a light taupe color. The wood and rattan is beautiful, and the chair is nice and heavy. This chair looks expensive. I am thinking about ordering another one for my family room. I would highly recommend this item.

Measure your space first!!
from Bowie, MD,  May 27, 2008

My boyfriend surprised me with this chair and it arrived quickly and was easily assembled. My only issue with workmanship is the plastic plugs. This thing is a monster! It is super wide and super deep. Perfect for curling up and reading a book. I was originally thinking about a pair of them but only one will fit. ...and consistent with the other reviews, the color is definitely taupe, not green.

Big Man Big Chair
 from Georgia,  May 27, 2008

I bought this chair with my uncle in mind. He is 6:2 and weighs over 300 pounds. The chair is so sturdy and well constructed that when he sat in it he did not move, creak, wobble or anything. Some of us have to a have a big chair and this one more than fits the bill. Within minutes of sitting in the chair my uncle fell fast asleep. The chair is not difficult to put together and the holes for the screws matched up perfectly. Be careful not to tighten screws until all parts are in place. I priced chairs similar to this one at a few local retail establishments and almost gagged on the sticker price. The shipping charges are terrific. $2.50 You can't get a pizza delivered for that amount. It arrived in about 5 business day and right in the nick of time. Good luck with your selection!!

Great Chair
 from California,  May 26, 2008

I was looking for a larger than usual chair, this chair is large. Nice workmanship, easy for me to put together. Put together where you'll be using it as it is heavy. The only draw back is I can't find a matching ottoman.

LOVE IT!!
from Trabuco Canyon, CA,  May 24, 2008

I ordered 2 chairs after reading all the reviews. I was a little nervous, but the chairs were exactly what I hoped for. The color was perfect (there is a slight shade of green in them), and you can always recover the cushions down the road. They are large and comfortable , (the cushions are firm)and we have put them to use right away. The dowels are cheap, but I painted ours the color of the wood, and the assembly is very easy. For the price, I definitely recommend the chair, if you like the look.

Ellis Chair
from St. Louis, MO.,  May 17, 2008

I love this chair - it is definitely a 'sit back and relax' kind of chair - it is deep so there's plenty of room to curl up - it is sturdy and the cushions are really nice & fluffy - definitely more taupe which is perfect for me - and really any decor color scheme. The cane work is really pretty. It came packaged very well and took very little time to put together. I'm ordering another one today!

Gorgeous cfhair
from Charleston SC,  May 17, 2008

I LOVED the Ellis sofa, and was delighted to find the matching chair. It is large, deep and comfortable, and looks SO expensive. I only wish they hadn't sent those plastic caps for the bolts - I replaced then with wooden caps stained to match the wood, and the chair and sofa are just elegant. Don't hesitate on this one!

These Chairs are HUGE
from San Antonio, TX,  May 8, 2008

The chair looked exactly like the one online, it was my fault that I did not measure my living room, they are comfortable. BUT, they were somewhat difficult to put together and I am not at all happy with the plastic screw covers. They should be made of the same wood and stained the same color. I also feel that the $800 original price is way too high. I feel like I paid what they are worth, and they have a strong chemical oder. If I knew this, I would not have ordered them.

Looks great-not so comfortable
from Richland, Washington,  May 8, 2008

I bought four of these for a conversational area in my living room. Boy, they look fantastic! The problem is with their comfort. They are very deep. Using a pillow on each one works wonders. (comes with matching pillow, but added new ones to spice it up a bit) These chairs are not for lounging in front of your tv, but they do serve their purpose in a formal living room.

Great chair! Larger than what I thought, but I love it! The color is more golden then green but a nice neutral color that will go with just about anything!

Ellis Chair

Overall, the chair has a nice appearance as long as you get screw covers to replace the cheap plastic ones. It is a large chair and easy to assemble.

Great value with some minor tweaking
from Rehoboth Beach, DE,  Apr 28, 2008

Here's the deal...this chair is a great size and looks great once it's put together (which is easy to do as it comes with a small wrench which is the only tool needed). This would be a 5 star purchase if it wasn't for two things...first there are some cheap brown rubber stoppers for the screw holes which are ridiculous looking. Second, there are no protective pads on the bottom of the legs and the chair is heavy and will scratch up your floors. Because this chair is inexpensive, buy it, go to the hardware store and buy 8 wooden dowels, stain them dark walnut and glue them over the bolts and get some rubber or felt pads for the bottom of the legs and you'll have a great piece of furniture. It's definitely more taupe with a slight sage undertone. I'm really happy with it (after some minor tweaking).

Wonderful chairs
from Saint Marys, GA,  Apr 28, 2008

Beautiful oversized chairs that invite you to curl up and read a book. Easy to assemble and well made. The chairs look much more expensive then they were. The cushion color is unobtrusive and will look good with almost any color scheme. The only disappointment are the plastic screw hole covers - wooden ones would have more appropriate.

Pleased
 from Florida,  Apr 9, 2008

The chair was delivered as per schedule and in good condition and very easy to assemble. We were looking for a nice large comfortable chair for our vacation home and it was just as expected big and comfortable but have to agree with other comments that the plastic covers do let it down. The colour is definitely taupe but it is what we wanted so no problems.
