Customer Reviews
I have to stress the previous review, which details the difficulty in assembly. The instructions are worthless, not one word on the page. I consider myself experienced with furniture assembly and was very frustrated with this purchase. There are no pre-drilled holes for the doors!!! Good luck securing them perfectly, it's impossible without the holes. The screws provided for the handles on the glass doors are too long and do not secure tightly. You will need new ones from Modloft. Also, the "Wenge" color is basically black. If you think it is espresso or java, you are wrong. The picture shows a dark brown, but it is black...consider yourself warned. As the previous reviewer stated, once the unit is assembled it looks good and gets compliments. I like the finished product, not the hoops I've had to jump through to get here. I would opt for a white glove delivered, pre-assembled piece if I could do it over again. Cheers.
I am considered "handy", and I have assembled a good bit of furniture as well as closet millwork. Thank goodness for that, because the assembly instructions were minimal to say the least. They consisted of 4 poor diagrams and NO verbage. Some of the hardware would be a bit obscure to the first time furniture assembly person, luckily I had dealt w/ similar harware on closet millwork in the past, so I wasn't lost. And I own the NEEDED (ie NOT included) tool needed to tighten those "cam" bolts from a previous project. This necessary step of tightening those bolts wasn't even mentioned in the directions! Finally, the patience needed to level the doors in the hinge hardware cannont be understated. It was helpful having a second person around when lifting and placing the bottom and top pieces onto the unit (large and cumbersome each). Also, good to have a second person apply pressure and weight to the unit when tightening the cam bolts affixing the top to the unit. Assume this project will take you at least 4 hours start to finish, especially if you are particular about the door hardware. Oh, and there are no pre-drilled holes for attaching the bottom shelf to the base, so be sure you have it square and flush. The saving grace is that the finished piece is handsome and sturdy.
