Purchased as a gift and the mom loves it. Strong and very good quality that will not easily get knocked over. Only downside is not a bunch of light but that is why they made ceiling fans with lights.

If you buy this lamp, buy it for looks and not light. The shade is much too dark and of the wrong shape to disperse a useful amount of light. I'm keeping it because I had another lamp shade to use, which allows for an acceptable level of illumination. OK, but not great.

I bought this lamp for $70 less than I found it advertised elsewhere.I like the lamp, though my husband says it's "too dark."

The quality of this lamp is excellent and the price cannot be beat. I saw this same lamp on other websites for more than double the money. The base is very heavy. The only minor complaint I have is, the shade looks almost chocolate brown. You do not notice the very nice amber color unless the light is on. I thought I was buying a lamp with a amber colored shade.

Many years ago, I actually sold lamps for a living. I can say, from experience, that finding a Kenroy brand lamp at this price is quite a coup. I knew before I received it that the quality of the piece would be outstanding. Even so, I was pretty impressed with the weight of the base. This is not a lamp that's going to tip over easily. It's great for a household with kids and/or pets. It's the look of the lamp that has me wavering; that's why I gave it only three stars for appearance. I love the base and I love the shade, but once I got the pair of lamps set up in my living room, I wasn't so sure anymore. The photo makes the lamp and shade look well proportioned, but that's not really the case. Once I saw it in person, I thought the shade was just a bit narrow for the base. I might have returned the lamps, but I really like the base and figured I could eventually replace the shade. Well, in the couple of weeks that they've been in my living room, I've gotten used to the look and have decided not to replace the shades until they NEED to be replaced. One warning I will give: Because the shade is amber and not white or off white, the lamps don't give off loads of light. You can read by it if you're sitting next to it, but not from across the room.
