The unit performes and operates as described. It has a nice finish and the exhaust and intake hoses are extra heavy duty. The fan speeds seem to be a little on the slow side and the vents do not operate side to side. The only vent adjustment is up and down with the vent lid.The instructions are not clear on how to empty the condensate pan. I see no way to actually remove it, so am guessing that a drain line must be installed.

this is the second portable AC unit by this manufacturer; getting great cooling and like the features;seems to be a lot of value for the price - cannot get through the hot days without it!

Living in a small loft with southern exposure, no central air, and large windows incompatible with traditional a/c units gets pretty darn hot in the summer. Multiply that by a record-setting triple-digit heat wave and it becomes absolutely unbearable! After 3 sweaty, sleepless nights- we broke down and decided to buy an a/c, but every store in our metro area was completely sold out. I'm glad. This unit has more BTUs and a better value than anything we could have bought locally. We ordered it on Sunday night and, to our glee, received it on Tuesday! (come to find out it was shipped from a warehouse in our city) My husband had it set up within 30 minutes or so and... instant relief! The temperature in our place went from 95 to 85 the first night. After a few days, we were down to a cool 75. We never thought it would circulate so well through our whole place (750 sq ft open loft with 16 ft ceilings), but it has done wonders. We've been running this puppy continuously for over 3 weeks with no problems. It added about $30 to our electric bill, but worth every penny. It switches to fan mode when your desired temp is reached and also has a self-evaporating dehumidifier. The ducting was too short to reach our windows, so we had to buy some, but that's just fine. Our windows tip in, so we had to come up with a little rig to seal the opening around the duct plate (cough-duct tape-cough), but again- that was to be expected for our windows. I can't rave enough about this purchase- Overstock saved our summer!

I purchased this unit because I own a really old home with in ward opening windows. There was no way a traditional window unit would work in this space. I purchased a similar unit with 8,000 BTU's but it did little to cool our large room (22 X 22), so I returned it. At first, I was reluctant to make the purchase because of the problems with the similar model. I'm really happy I did. This unit cools the room wonderfully even on some of the hottest days. The unit is a little noisy but after a while you hardly notice it. The cost of the unit was one of the cheapiest I found. The unit is also extremely durable as it's used in a 24 hr, 7 day a week in home daycare center. It amazes me everyday it continues to work!!!!!!!!!!! lol
