The mower is great. However, although I have a small area, it is slightly sloped and self propelled would have made the job much easier.

Two years later - to the trash. I bought this lawnmower in the Spring of 2012 and I liked it at first. My lawn is level and a little over a half acre. The battery got me about three-quarters of the way done, which was fine because I like to break the chore into two days. I kept the mower in the shed in-between uses. The battery came inside the house during the cold months and I charged it twice during the winter. Last fall when I stored it for the winter, I was a bit concerned as the battery seemed to be draining fast, the plastic on the mower had cracked in a few places (despite the good care I had given it) and the rear flap was torn up (I never mowed in reverse, but there are some areas in every lawn where you must back up, and I that's when it happened.) This spring I charged it again, but it only got to three bars and died a quarter of the way thorough. When I tried to charge it again, it would not take. I called the 1-800 number today. A very nice customer service rep informed me that she was very sorry, but the only thing she could do was sell me another battery. (Even after I told her the body of the mower was not holding up.) I asked if they had other complaints and, if so, had they made improvements to the newer models? She said no. I guess that means I better look for my next mower elsewhere.

Problems It's quiet, it mows well, but there is some problem with the battery which, while fully charged, suddenly the indicator changes to no charge, the mower goes off. Over and over and over. EXTREMELY FRUSTRATING. Also note that the 2 year warranty from overstock is actually a one year warranty; the first year is through the manufacturer so contacting customer service here, I get the run around and will need to contact Earthwise, but they only have mon-fri hours.

Does the Job I have used an electric mower for the past 20 years and have had several brands in that time. I started with corded mowers and got tires of dragging the cord around while mowing. I don't have a large yard and fortunately it is fairly flat, particularly with this mower. The mower is great, plenty of power, even cutting and the mulching feature works well. But the weight of this mower is heavy. It is all in the battery though. I was unable to even remove from the box until I took the battery off and then could lift it out. The charge on the battery is sufficient to do my yard it takes about 45 minutes for my yard so the charge it sufficient. I have always found the batteries to be the sore point with electric mowers as they have only lasted about 2 years with me, so I had to replace them every two years and they can get pricey. This being a 36 volt makes me worry as they are expensive to replace but the convience of electric and easy startup is what has sold me on electric mowers for the last 20 years so I will do it again. In researching mowers one thing I have read is correctly charging the battery. I used to just leave mine plugged in all of the time. So I am going to take special care of this battery and I hope I see longer than two years out of it this time. Performance wise, like I said the mower gives an even cut, power seems to be great from start of the job to completion in 45 minutes. Cuts nicely in thick grass and the mulching does well. I like the 20 inch cutting path and the wheels perform well on my lawn. The height adjustment works well and I like the battery power level indicator. However, I would hate to have an incline in my lawn using this mower as it is very heavy, but on my level ground it is not hard to push at all. I opted to not get a self-propelled model as the biggest complaint in reviews was that it was either too fast or too slow or stopped working soon after purchase, so I didn't think the feature would be worth the extra money.

Great Product This a good little mower but only recommended for small yards. I It takes 50% charge to mow my yard and as you mow it shows how much charge left on the battery at increment of 25%. I haven't take time to monitor how long it takes to charge but I usually charged the night before mowing and by morning it's fully charged. My only complaint so far is that I wish it was a self-propelled mower. Make sure to clean the mower after each mow because lots of grass built up beneath the mower as you mow. I will update my review after collecting more data. I only have this mower for over a month.

Don't buy this-battery doesn't work/won't charge I bought this mower as a Christmas gift, but my son didn't try to use it until this spring. The battery wouldn't hold a charge, making the mower worthless. The company wouldn't replace the battery, as it's only guaranteed for 90 days. A replacement battery costs $100 plus $60 for shipping because it's so heavy. To be able to use the mower, he'd have to pay $160 in addition to the $XXX+ I've already spent on the mower. Read the negative reviews on Amazon and you'll find that we're not the only ones who were duped by the Earthwise company.
