The Earthwise Convertible 2-in-1 Hedge Trimmer is a powerful and durable high-quality trimmer for large bushes and trees. Its convenient extending handle eliminates the need to use shaky stepladders, and makes trimming easier and safer for all. Switching between the hand trimmer and the telescoping trimmer is quick and easy. This multipurpose hedge trimmer can be used as either a standard hedge trimmer or a pole trimmer, depending on your specific gardening needs. The product is useful for cutting smaller branches down low, but its real value is the ability of the pole to extend up to nine feet to reach high and awkward to cut larger branches.

  • Heavy & awkward to use, but does the job

    Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, this hedge trimmer is heavy and with the motor at the top of the extension rod vs. at the base, it can be unbalanced and awkward to use. However, my landlady has the worst gardeners on the planet and they never trim the ficus and I didn't want to spend a fortune on something fancy, so this did the job. When it got too heavy for me to lift, my husband took over. I wouldn't recommend it for big jobs, but for lopping off the sides (and soon, I hope, the top) of a severely over grown ficus tree, it was fine.

    Good hedge trimmer for average use. A bit heavy in the front which can make it difficult to control at times but once you get used to it, it works extremely well. Very durable teeth and it has a lot of power. Overall very pleased with it.

  • Motor amperage was 2.8 amps and NOT 6.5 Amps

    I ordered this item because the description stated it had a 6.5 amp motor. Upon receipt, and per the description on the retail box, it actually had a 2.5 amp motor. I also discovered that it was not very comfortable to use since it was relatively heavy due to the placement of the motor at the blade end rather than at the handle end. Additionally, the lack of a support bar at the handle end to balance the weight made it that much more difficult to comfortably operate due to the weight of the motor.
