Earthwise Convertable 2-in-1 Hedge Trimmer

Like one of the other reviewers mentioned, this hedge trimmer is heavy and with the motor at the top of the extension rod vs. at the base, it can be unbalanced and awkward to use. However, my landlady has the worst gardeners on the planet and they never trim the ficus and I didn't want to spend a fortune on something fancy, so this did the job. When it got too heavy for me to lift, my husband took over. I wouldn't recommend it for big jobs, but for lopping off the sides (and soon, I hope, the top) of a severely over grown ficus tree, it was fine.

I was looking for a high quality hedge trimmer on a pole to tame our wisteria vines. After researching on-line I decided on the Earthwise Convertable 2-in-1 Hedge Trimmer. Overstock had the best price. This was my first purchase from Overstock. I am very pleased with the company. My trimmer arrived promptly; securely packaged (free shipping also!); and it exceeded my expectations! The trimmer easily converts from standard hedge trimmer to a pole trimmer. With the pole fully extended you can reach about ten feet. I highly recommend this trimmer and overstock to anyone. I now check Overstock first before buying anything.

I ordered this item because the description stated it had a 6.5 amp motor. Upon receipt, and per the description on the retail box, it actually had a 2.5 amp motor. I also discovered that it was not very comfortable to use since it was relatively heavy due to the placement of the motor at the blade end rather than at the handle end. Additionally, the lack of a support bar at the handle end to balance the weight made it that much more difficult to comfortably operate due to the weight of the motor.

• How is the quality of the product? Poorly designed. Too heavy to comfortably operate. Motor should be at the handle and NOT at the blade end.

The trimmer does a very nice job on big tall bushes. However, they are a bit heavy for extended overhead triming. Yet I would still purchase them. It is nice that the length is adjustable.
