  • poor choice of lawnmower

We replaced an aged gas mower with this cordless electric one, thinking we were doing the right thing, environment-wise. The first summer it was fine, although it took an overnight recharging and hence two days to cut the lawn, when, with the gas mower we finished to job in 2 hours. But, fine, we rationalized it, saying it was less strenuous, by stretching the job over two days. Summer number 2 - battery dies, because the motor was sucking grass cuttings into the vents, and clogging and overheating. So, replaced battery. New battery somehow is even weaker than the first one, stretching the work over three days, having to recharge overnight twice. And, yes, we plugged it in every second month over the winter. Summer number three - this time some switch needed to be replaced, necessitating a stay in the repair shop of two weeks, while the rain fell and the grass grew. Now, the lawn mower dies out after twenty minutes. Cutting the lawn now takes a week, and then we have to start all over again. At this point, I am prepared to say to heck with the environment! Give me a good old powerful lawn mower that can do the job in one effort and give me the rest of the week to do other things. This lawn mower has proven to be a huge disappointment. If I could rate it with less than 1 star, I would.

  • Overall good, but...

VERY PROMPT shipping.... and cannot beat the price. I saved $30 off ****** list price too boot! Good JOB OVERSTOCK! Just yesterday used for the first time my new Earthwise 20" cordless mower. It did a nice job cutting and mulching in my opinion. Liked the easy start (after figuring out that the key is a pretty snug fit and has to go ALL the way in.... wrestled the thing into my trunk and lugged it to authorized service center thinking it was defective and looked like an idiot -by the way... Earlier called Earthwise 800 number with questions three different times before I finally found a person that knew anything... and don't call on weekends - they don't answer. AND that isn't really Earthwise you are calling but rather some "sort" of tech support (marginal) or distribution company). ALSO, need to realize that the battery indicator on the mower doesn't light up unless the mower is RUNNING! Anyway, back to the mower itself. I was pleased at how it cut,,, but was fearful of low battery life after about 40 minutes. Have to step lively if you want to finish a yard (mine is pretty small) on only one charge and have tall grass. Plus... my hand was aching from holding the lever on and had to stop several times to rest my aching right hand (finally cheated and used a rope). The biggest problem is it is SO DARN HARD TO PUSH! WOW!!! I have done my share of mowing with gas mowers that were NOT self-propelled and NEVER have I encountered any mowers even close to the awkwardness and difficulty in maneuvering and the sheer physical force needed to push that thing around my relatively flat yard. True grass was somewhat tall in the back but beware if your yard has the slightest incline or slope or lots of twists and turns, you definitely have your work cut out for you.Especially if you are short -handle setting is a little too tall. I was debating what would happen first, my finishing the yard,,, or fainting. If you mow frequently, you can cancel your membership to the gym and just mow! Kill two birds with one stone. PROS: Eco-friendly, quiet, cuts nicely (if grass isn't too tall), Easy to change cutting levels, Great strength-building/cardio workout. CONS: battery life questionable, hand cramps and potential for stroke or heart attack. Fine for small, FLAT yards. Hope I don't have significant battery issues or wheel problems I have seen in other reviews. SO FAR, I would recommend to others but must keep in mind the drawbacks.

  • Earthwise Mower

I was a little skeptical buying an item like this on line. This machine runs very quietly and best of all I no longer have to buy gasoline. I also like the fact that I no longer have to puul to get the mower started. Just stick in a key and the mahice starts and the battery last a good long time.

    • Please tell us about the quality of the product. The mower is great. I love the easy start and the quiet compared to a gas mower.

Mower runs fine. I've used it twice. My issue is that the front wheels are bent out of alignment somehow. The front right wheel is way off the ground when the other three are level, and the front left wheel bends out a bit so the mower pulls in that direction. All four wheels are connected in order to raise/lower them so it's not an easy solution.

I was nervous to buy one after all the issues with the battery I had read, but it has a lot of power- it was enough to mow my lawn almost twice on one charge (takes me about 35 minutes to mow my lawn... so my lawn isn't tiny but not big either). The battery did end up not holding a charge the next season, but they sent me a replacement even though it was past the 12 months.

I really enjoy this lawnmower; it is so easy! I can mow my front and back yard on one charge and then I just plug it in to charge for the next use. It's easy to push and manuver and cuts very well.

  • WARNING - Battery only lasts two years

I purchased this mower two years ago and at the end of this season the battery died. I only mow .25 acres and the previous mowers battery (Ryobi) lasted ten years. The cost of replacement is %50 of the cost of the mower. Spend your money on a better mower.
