The DC39 Multi floor canister vacuum is engineered with Dyson cyclones that capture more dirt than any other vacuum in its class. Featuring Dyson's Radial Root Cyclone technology, reconfigured air channels reduce turbulence and preserve air pressure, so the inner cyclones can extract more microscopic particles and expel cleaner air. Suitable for all floor types, the DC39's Triggerhead tool is the only turbine head controlled at the handle, so there is no bending down to adjust. A fingertip control switches the brush bar off for delicate rugs and hard floors and switches on for high pick-up on carpets. Combined with Dyson Ball technology, the DC39 turns on a dime to give you greater control.

The condition was very questionable it was refurbished but that part seemed apparent the canister had some damage. Overall it is a good vacuum though.

  • Great Vacuum for Hard Floors

I have had a DC07 upright dyson for about 10 years now and been pleased with it for carpet but it does not do a good job on hard floors and my wife isn't able to lug it up the stairs. The DC39 does a great job on the hardwood floor but I wouldn't have gotten it (or any air-driven brush head) vacuum if I didn't already have the upright with the belt-driven brush head. I will say, however, that it does a better job on carpet than I expected. In spite of being 17+ lbs which is still a bit heavy for my wife's taste, the layout of the canister makes it easier to carry and much better for stairs than the upright. Suction is very strong (this model has higher "airwatts" than any other Dyson that I know of) and the two switches on the handle to release suction or turn the beater bar on/off are very convenient. Buyers should recognize, however, that an air-driven beater bar converts some of that suction into mechanical energy to spin the brush head, so the airwatt rating between this and a belt-driven upright is not a fair comparison. Without the beater bar on, this would be a fair head-to-head comparison between vacuums. The head is very maneuverable as well and I do like the retracting cord that you don't get with the uprights. Quality of construction seems good; I was skeptical about the main tube being plastic, but it's very sturdy and I expect it to hold up fine. The hose also seems plenty sturdy as well (this was a problem on the vacuum that this one is replacing). If this were new, I would have given it 5 stars but as a refurb, it did show more wear than I was hoping for but I guess that's the risk you take buying a refurb. I got the extended warranty since these vacuums have lots of little parts to break and that would cost a lot to repair. We have only had it a few days, so time will tell if it's reliable but with my last Dyson going strong after nearly 10 years, I'm not too concerned. We did strongly consider the DC50 (compact upright, very lightweight) but I did not feel good about the quality of construction of that vacuum. In particular, there is a single button to release the canister and then open it to empty the canister so if you pushed it down all the way by accident, you'd dump it's contents all over the vacuum while removing it. The DC39, by comparison, has two buttons (like my old Dyson): one to release the canister and another to dump it. Summary: If you don't have a lot of carpet, buy this vacuum. The canister layout (as opposed to upright) is better for stairs, better for maneuvering around objects, and less awkward to carry if you are a small person. Consider the extended warranty because it will be expensive to repair if it breaks.

  • Good light weight vacuum.

This vacuum is great and light weight but has one bad flaw, if you're not careful and you suck up the wrong thing it will get stuck in a place where you may not be able to get it out. If you look it up on the web you can find some videos of people taking it apart to remove the clog.

  • Excellent Performance and Value

This is my second Dyson. I wanted a canister-style vacuum to make it easier to vacuum our stairs, and the DC 39 fills the bill nicely. It is compact and lightweight. Like all Dysons, it has tremendous suction that doesn't diminish as it cleans. The air-driven beater bars work surprisingly well and are easy to shut off when I make the transition from rug to wood floor. Although the power cord is short--as others have complained--I haven't found it to be much of an issue. Having the accessories on board and easy to attach is a plus. As for the product being refurbished, potential buyers shouldn't worry. As with my first refurbished Dyson, the DC39 looks brand new and performs accordingly.

  • great little vacuum

Originally I had bought the upright Dyson. But after a year a plastic piece broke and overstock gave me a credit so I bought this one. I like this one better. Easy to manuver. Works well. Im happy with my choice.

  • Excellent vacuum

Since the vacuum arrived a couple of days ago, I just tried it two times. But I have a strong impression of it. It has strong suction, low noise, no dust blowing out. It works well on both carpet and hard wood floor。The attached tools are useful, and it works to vacuum underneath furniture. The only thing I am not comfortable with is the actually size is bigger than I thought. Handling this vacuum takes more effort and energy than I expect. However, what I want is a strong vacuum to clean up my house, and it dose it very well.

  • Love this

I love this vacuum! I always had upright vacs before, had a dyson that unfortunately fell apart too soon, so I was hesitant to purchase another dyson as they are so expensive. I am so pleased with this new vac! The long hose allows me to get under furniture much better than with usual upright, stairs were so difficult before: hauling the vac up each step, trying to balance it. If you have steps and animals/ kids- buy this vac! It's worth the $.
