BEST VACUUM EVER!!!!
I OWN THE UPRIGHT VERSION OF THIS VACUUM AND THIS ONE IS MUCH MORE POWERFUL. I OWN 2 DOGS AND HAVE TO VACUUM EVERY DAY AND I HAVE TO SAY IT PICKS UP EVERYTHING. I LOVE IT! IT IS WELL WORTH THE $ IN MY OPINION BUT I LIKE TO CLEAN AND THEREFORE ALWAYS WANT THE BEST PRODUCTS ON THE MARKET. SOME PEOPLE DON'T CARE TO SPEND THAT MUCH MONEY ON A VACUUM CLEANER AND MAY DISAGREE WITH MY OPINION. IF YOU ARE A "CLEAN FREAK" LIKE MYSELF DO YOURSELF A HUGE FAVOR AND BUY IT, YOU WILL NOT REGRET IT!

Love it
This is a great little vacuum cleaner that's not so little. I can't believe how much it picks up. The only thing is I wish the instructions were a little better but once i got it figured out, no problem.

Show Me the Pet Hair!
I am going to preface this review by saying that we have a LOT of animals and I go through vacuums like I go through Kleenex. That being said, I have never spent this much money on a vacuum, but figured that for all of the ones I clog up and break, it was probably worth the investment. I immediately put this beastie to work and it was amazing. In fact, the amount of debris it picked up made me feel like I am, indeed, one of the pig people. The only negatives that I have is that when I clean the cannister, it's a little messy. Additionally, (and I did not know this) I must shed a lot of my own, very long hair, and it wraps around the brushes at the head of the vacuum. I periodically have to unwrap the offending strands. So, for pet hair - great! People hair - not so much. This is a great vacuum for people like me (are there others out there?): pet people with OCD. I am hoping this vacuum lasts a good long while and continues with its fantastic rate of suction.

Dyson Dc23 Animal
While, I do agree that it is a small inconvenience to dump the canister each time, you get used to it. I just loved my last vacuum, the Kenmore Progressive. But, it's suction was nothing compared to the Dyson. I did get spoiled with the on/off switch being on the handle and the easy foot release for getting into small corners. I am now used to the Dyson and the way it handles, and am very satisfied. I wish the cord was three feet longer. It is not hard to store, I don't even know what the others are talking about? The suction is like nothing I've ever seen, and I'm a 42 year old anal retentive clean-aholic! However, I do go through vacuums around every five years, hopefully this one will stand the test of time living with someone who will be using it every day.

Gotta love the Animal!!
I consider the Dyson DC 23 Animal to be the first real vacuum cleaner I have ever owned. Been keeping house for 23 years, and no machine I ever had before my Dyson could even come close to its performance, convenience, and ease of use. The Animal is my new appliance crush...I love it almost as much as I love my cat!

Can't believe I'm reviewing a vacuum cleaner
I hate vacuuming. I hate cleaning in general. I pay someone else to do it whenever I can afford to do so. No, this vac didn't make me taller or smarter, but it *did* make me hate vacuuming a little less. Seriously. It completely blows other vacs (heh) out of the water to an extent that I feel like I'm playing with cool technology while I'm cleaning the floors. It's so amazing *I wrote a review of a cleaning product!*.

German Sheperd hair is no match for the Animal.
I was on the fence about spending the money for a Dyson. I have been burned before by salsemen that preach "Our product is the best because......". The simplistic design and superb functionality of this machine is what makes it worth the extra money you would spend on the other machines you would find at the local home centers. Great buy for me.

Good Vacuum with a few issues
I have had this vacuum for a few weeks now. The pros are good suction on low pile, very light and manueverable, no bags, super easy release of dirt from canister, awesome floor tool, because carpet tool is air driven no need to adjust suction, & quiet. The cons are the hose is a bit short and rigid, suction on medium pile starts to die out a bit, no controls on wand, plastic components (which makes it light, but may not last.....we'll see) & tool for pet hair is good but not great. I had a Progressive Vacuum from Kenmore for 10 years and it was a great machine. I tried to get another one, but the re-designed models were just cheap plastic. The quality was gone. So I tried a Dyson Animal. Overall I'm satisfied, but for the money you just don't get much anymore.

Love my new Dyson DC23
I 've had a Dyson DC11 animal for about 8 yrs, which was great, but with age and everyday usage it was wearing out. I run an in home children's day care, and have a German Shepherd who sheds like crazy all year long; additionally my husband has just been diagnosed with a whole host of allergies. I decided to upgrade and never even considered a different make. This newer model is great. Seems more powerful than my old one. The cord is longer, which is a boon and it comes with a whole host of cleaning tools, most of which I had to purchase separately with my old one. I love my Dyson and have and will recommend ONLY a Dyson. Yes they are a little spendy, but when you consider that you NEVER have to buy bags and the fact that they last they are worth every penny.

This vacuum is easy to use and amazingly powerful. It is maneuverable and compact, taking up much less closet space than my old vacuum. After using my old cleaner , I re-vacuumed a small area on my rug and couldn't believe how much 'stuff' it picked up. I'm pleased with my purchase
