First of all had to laugh at one of the reviewers mentioning it didn't make their dogs bark from the noise -- EVERY vacuum I've ever had 1 of my dogs goes CRAZY trying to bite the vacuum and barks her head off -- this one -- not a peep! That's just the beginning! As with another reviewer -- set up and use is a bit difficult at first (I don't like reading instructions ;) -- but once I got going could not BELIEVE what an awesome vacuum cleaner this is! I've owned everything from Eureka, Hoover, Rainbow, bagless, Hepa, etc -- and hands down -- this literally leaves every other vacuum I've owned IN THE DUST! I thought it would bother me having to empty it so much (I have a lot of persian style rugs which I purchased in the last 5 months that shed) but it is SO easy to empty -- and seeing the amount of gunk it picks up, it is NO bother whatesover! If you don't like bagless vacuums, this vacuum cleaner could change your mind about bagless -- a flick of a switch and a shake and everything falls out into the garbage.. It is amazing that with the low noise, that it has such great suction and picks everything up the whole length of the sucker upper. The edge (corner) cleaning abilities of this unit is amazing. If you are an EXTREMELY picky person about quality -- this is the vacuum for you -- the price really isn't that bad considering other brands that sell for hundreds or thousands more, can't touch the performance of this vacuum. FINALLY -- a vacuum cleaner I CAN live with!

This is a great vacuum. Has the power of the bigger models, but much lighter and easier to carry around the house.

The dyson DC 18 is small vacuum that easily fits under furniture and cabinets, with great suction like the larger dysons. But I find the dyson slim too top heavy to comfortably vacuum for very long. I also have a dyson animal and have no problem vacuuming the entire house with it. I think the slim is a good vacuum for either an apartment or a house with rooms full of furniture where you need a smaller vacuum.

I never liked vacuuming before but I love it now. Every detail about vacuuming has been addressed in this machine. The attachments instructions are a little hard to follow, but when you figure them out, they're great! It is expensive, and that's why Overstock.com is a big help. No matter what, it is worth it. You'll never buy another vacuum again!

I hesitated a while before making such a costly appliance,however my husband & I love this vacuum,could not believe what was in the cup after 1st time even though we vacuumed a couple of times a week with our old one.This is not extremely noisy so our dog does not bark at it.I would recommend to anyone even if it is a higher price then I wanted to pay,however $2.95 shipping was very much appreciated.

I bought the Dyson after using a Kenmore for 10 years! Well, once I saw the filth that came out of my carpets when I vacuumed with the Dyson, I was hooked! It picks up EVERYTHING you can imagine and more. One thing to note is that when it's delivered by overstock, it's not packaged any special way other than the box that has the DYSON picture all over it. So if you don't live in an area where you can trust your neighbors, have this delivered to someone who you know will be home! I got it in about a week which was great, but they left it right smack on my porch for all to see. For almost $400 I am glad no one stole it. The second thing to be mindful of is that there are no directions to tell you where to attach all the nozzles and attachments that come with it, so good luck! And Third, the furniture duster (purple in the picture) was not included in mine. I contacted overstock and they're working on either getting the part or refunding me part of the money so I can buy it from Dyson. Overall, it's a great vacuum and worth it, just make sure to check that all your attachments are there and that someone's home when it gets delivered!!

This vacuum has proven to be a great investment thus far. My husband and I have a boxer whom we love very much... but we have an ongoing battle with the hair he sheds throughout our home. This vacuum has made a tremendous difference. My only concern is that it seems very "plastic" and I'm nervous about breaking something. So far, it's held up great - time will tell... Overall, I would definitely recommend purchasing a Dyson.

The Dyson DC18 Slim was my first purchase from Overstock.com and I have to say I am VERY glad I decided to make the purchase. First off I ordered the vacuum 2days before the Fourth of July, it shipped the next day, and was at my post office by monday. I was very impressed with getting it so quickly, especially over a holiday weekend. Now, onto the vacuum. I was hesitant to buy this vacuum, simply because of the price. I am SO glad I bought it. Our carpet is only a few months old, and I vacuumed with my old vacuum, then with the dyson.......WOW. My carpet has never really been clean until I used this vacuum. My husband even commented on how clean the carpet looked after I vacuumed with the dyson. We were both in shock as to the amount of "dirt" that it pulled out of the carpet. The vacuum is very quiet, it was very easy to put together, and VERY easy to manuver. I love the "ball" it rolls on. It glides across my floors effortlessly. I am very pleased with my new vacuum AND Overstock. I will definitely be doing more business with them!!

If you can love a vacuum cleaner, you will love this one! I've tried so many vacuums I can't even say and this one fits everything I'd want in a vacuum cleaner. I can't believe I'm saying this but I really enjoy vacuuming now. I've had a hard time trying to locate this style and I really wish they'd continue making it; I wanted my sister to get one. I was very lucky to get this product for the price I paid!

After having a Dyson, I'll never go back. I love this vaccum. It is light and easy to handle. We did have one minor problem and had to send it in after a year but Dyson stood by their vaccum, paid for shipping, and got it back quickly. We also had a bobby pin get stuck in it but my husband called the help line and they got it fixed. It's the best vaccum I've ever owned!

This is the best vacuum ever. I've had it for over 2 years and it works just as well now as the first day I used it. I like the attachments and it's easy to clean. It's definitely slim and light weight, but it does everything I need it to do. I used a professional carpet cleaner to shampoo my carpets and pick up loose fibers. I then went over the carpet again with the Dyson and was surprised to see that it picked up additional fibers. It can't get any better than that.

I purchased this Dyson as a Christmas present for my daughter-in-law. I tried it out after I gave it to her, and now I wish I had purchased one for myself. It has great pickup power and is very easy to maneuver. She loves it too..

This is the best vacuum ever. It picks up everything, and leaves our carpet fluffy and soft. We purchased it in 2008 and we have have had zero problems with it. It is well worth the price.

An excellent price for a Dyson, but I don't know that Dyson is really worth the cost. The vacuum works well and the 5 year warranty is awesome. This vacuum is a bit on the small side, particularly for a home with 2 big dogs. The cansiter fills up pretty quickly. Overall, a good machine.

My husband and I love this vacuum. We've had it for about 5 months now so we've had some time to test it out. Perfect for smaller households, it's compact and lightweight. It's extremely powerful and so much fun to use. My husband loves it so much I rarely get to touch it. There are couple minor drawbacks; the hose is short and you have to manually wind the cord. Despite these two design/functionality choices that differentiate the DC18 from larger machines this vacuum is a dream. Definitely a 5/5.

This vacuum is great. I can clean hard-to-reach places like on top of the curtains and corners with great precision. My only gripe is that it doesn't lock in the upright position as easily as I would like it to.

This vacuum really sucks!!! I mean that in a good way. However, when you spend this kind of cash on a vacuum, you'd think it would have a retractable cord. BUT NO - IT DOES NOT. You have to wind and wind and wind! It also has a faulty multi-directional tool that just won't lock in place, making it pretty useless. There are only two small tools that store on the side of the sweeper and the others are just for you to figure out where to store them. I also find that the wand isn't very user-friendly like my other machines. You have to go through too many steps to use it. I am also dissappointed in that there is NO low floor tool and the one they sell separately won't fit the DC18 model. It does work great when you are just sweeping, but when doing heavy cleaning, I've now got a lot more steps to go through. It just seems harder to use than my other machines.

THIS VACUUM IS A LITTLE HARD GETTING USED TO USING......ITS DIFFERENT FROM OTHER VACUUMS.....THE FEEL IS DIFFERENT...ALSO...INSTRUCTIONS LEAVE A LOT TO BE DESIRED...SO ASSEMBLY IS HIT AND MISS... BUT.....PERFORMANCE IS OUTSTANDING....CARPETS AND BARE FLOORS........IT TAKES PATIENCE TO GET USED TO....BUT IS WORTH IT....
