After receiving the Dyson, I vacuumed the entire house including the basement (about 3,000 square feet w/ lots of carpet) and I had to dump the bagless canister eight times because it picked up so much dirt and crud out the carpet (yes, we vacuumed regularly). The carpet (and the air) is much cleaner now and I am thankful for that because my son has asthma. Other than a few scratches on the handle, this refurbished unit looks new. The only thing keeping it from five stars it that it is heavy to lift, but it does push very easy. I'll never own another Hoover, that's for sure.

I just got this item last night, and i think this is one of the best vacuums ive owned! I had been using the rainbow vacuum for the last few weeks and i thought that was the best thing out there. I thought it worked well but i HATED having to put it together everytime i used it. So i had heard good reviews on the dyson vacuums and decided to try this asthma and allergy one, even though i dont have allergies.I have officially fallen in love with a vacuum. Im dying to go home and vacuum at lunch!! I used it in one room only last night and i honestly couldnt believe what it picked up!! It was completely disgusting and clean all at the same time!! If anyone has cats or dogs or kids or a man in their life then i recommend this vacuum 100%! Dont listen to the bad reviews, those people didnt use commen sense when it comes to using a vacuum. If there are strings on your rug and you run this vacuum over them, of course its going to rip them off! Just be smart, and you wont have any problems!-M

I replaced my 15 year old Kirby with this vacuum. While it isnt any smaller it is lighter and waaay easier to move around. I was really excited about the 17' expandable wand because we have a chalet style house and very high ceilings. Just so you know, the hose is the part that expands.....not the solid wand so i was just a little disappointed in that. Howver it does reach much farther than my current vacuum and goes all the way up the stairs without having to lug the vacuum with me....love that !We have all wood floors so I had to turn the beater bar off, which seemed to lessen the suction a bit ...not sure just yet but it still picks up tons of dirt and hair (we have 3 big dogs and a cat!) Very easy to clean. I just bought the Multi angle Brush tool and used it last night to clean the window sills of our top row of windows which are about 10' high. It worked perfectly !!!I will also have to purchase the flatter floor too as the vacuum doesnt get under my furniture.As far as being refurbished, i dont know ,... if there is anything wrong with it I can't tell. It looked new, all parts work, and i'm going to keep it. Great price compared to stores prices and Dyson online price!Over all, so far i'm very happy with it and actually find myself vacuuming more often than i used to because it moves around so easily!The only down side, is that in order to use the wand/hose, you have to uncoil all of the electrical cord...but i can live with that. Only gave it 3 stars for appearance because, lets face it, its not beautiful but who cares !!PS: i absolutely love not having to deal with a replaceable bag, It is a snap to empty the bin.Thank you Overstock!

To be fair, my wife talked me into this purchase. All vacuums we've tried in the past just don't live up to the job. I suffer from asthma and with the dusting tool, I figured it was worth the try. The vacuum is amazing. We have a house of all tile with just a few area rugs and the Dyson simply adjusts to the floor level to get the best suction. When on the area rugs, it actually takes a little effort to push, because the suction on the carpet is so strong. Normally when my wife vacuums or dusts the house, I have to leave for several hours. With the Dyson's hepa filter and the dusting tool, it just didn't bother me. The only time I had a problem was when she emptied the canister of the dust and dirt. It's worth mentioning too, that the vacuum SMELLS CLEAN when it's running. I could go on about all the attachments, but the only attachment that really matters is the dusting tool which actually picks up the dust and doesn't scatter it. The only downside we can think to mention is the small canister size, which just means you have to empty it more frequently with a larger home. The quality of the vacuum and the job it does is well worth the money. Dyson has found a place in our home and when it comes time to replace this one, we won't look any farther than a Dyson product.

I normally don't ever take the time to write a review but I had to with this item. I wasn't sure if I sould purchase this vacuum or not and decided to go for it. I purchased it and it arrived in 3 days and I used it right away. I vacuumed the whole house and was amazed at how clean the carpets were and what it picked up. I would tell everyone to buy this vacuum especially if you have pets, which we do. Enjoy!!

Great product, arrived quickly and well packaged as have all the other products I have ordered from Overstock. Thank you. This vacuum is superior to any I have owned previously. I have tried many other brands over the years. Great suction and easy to empty. I have had no problems utilizing the wand and attachments. True test will be over the life of the vacuum. So far I think the vacuum is exceptional and would recommend.

This was a great purchase. The vacuum was delivered quickly and is just as expected. Looked like brand new and had a number of attachments. The vacuum works like a charm. My carpets look like they were just professionally cleaned every time I use it. Couldn't be happier with this purchase.

Can't beat the refurbished deal on this Dyson! Even though this vacuum is heavy, it glides across the floor easily. The vacuum is big and makes it difficult to get under anything. I have to pull out most all of my furniture to get underneath it. Going around corners and up close to the wall is difficult. I have 2 dogs and 1 cat and I have noticed a dramatic decrease in the amount of hair and pet dander around the house (even dust)! The filter is very easy to clean and the vacuum is easy to empty and take apart for extra cleaning. I would definitely recommend this vacuum if you are on a budget. If you aren't on a budget, look for the smaller and lighter Dyson with the ball.

I took a few hours figuring out this vacuum cleaner. Well every minute was worth it for I had no idea what was in store for me. I have three cats and thought my 20 yr old cleaner was doing its job until I used my DC17. I was so impress to how clean the carpet looked after that another person made a comment to how new it looked. Also the small dark stains turned a light color, almost completely gone. Well I must say that with only doing one room, it sucked out dirt and lint that I did not know that I had. The canister had so much lint that it looked like a cotton candy machine. I think I made another cat with the amount of cat hair picked up.I am sold and a true believer on what I have read along with what people have told me. Because of my asthma and allergies, I am so grateful for now having such clean carpets. It is like a miracle drug. I am looking forward to using it more with such good results. , thanks so much. I have terrible allergies, and when I moved all my furniture had been in storage for 4 years. I used this vacuum to clean my furniture that had been in storage and it was incredible how much dirt it pulled out! I haven't had any problems with my allergies or asthma in my home since I bought it, which is amazing! I've always loved Dyson's, however I have just become a life long customer from here on out.

I, too, was a little leary of purchasing a refurbished vacuum, but after reading the other reviews on this site, decided to take the plunge. I am so glad I did! The machine arrived quickly, and all attachments looked brand new, with no scratches or wear. The day I received my vacuum, I attacked our family room which has both rugs and laminate floors. The ability to turn off the beater bar with the push of a button when going from rug to floor is a great feature. And the suction!!!! This machine has pulled things out of our rugs we didn't know were there. The first time you use this vacuum, you'll be shocked at how quickly the cannister fills with dust and dirt. I love the ability to push one button to empty the cannister - sure beats my old vacuums. My only complaint is that the hose/wand seems cumbersome to use, but I will get over that because of the end results. There's a huge difference that you can see when you're done cleaning a room.

The refurbished model was easy enough to put together AFTER finding instructions on the Web because it didn't come with any, and how to insert the handle into the hose is counter-intuitive. It goes in upside-down from the way you'd think it does. That said, it works very well. It really does self-adjust for carpet depth and hard floors, and it seems to self-propel a bit while vacuuming, so moving it around isn't like mowing your lawn with a push-mower (important, because it's a rather heavy piece of equipment). It is FAR EASIER TO CLEAN OUT than the other (cheaper) brands of this style of vacuum cleaner I had before. It's not perfect, though, pet hair and fabric strands tend to get stuck up at the top of the dust container, and you have to reach up with something narrow (adult hand won't fit) to dislodge it. So if you're very allergic to dust/dander, keep those masks handy for vacuum emptying.

This is my second Dyson. I purchased my first one @ xxxxx several years ago. I must admit they keep on getting better!! The machine arrived, and I could not tell that it was refurbished. It looked and smelled brand new. I love the allergy attachments. The soft brush is great for dusting. The long wand which is expandable, works great for baseboards and corners. The suction of the vacuum itself is outstanding. It is far better than my original Dyson. If any of you are on the fence. Take the plunge. This is an awesome machine!!!!!!

Was skeptical of the Dyson vacumns and now really like them. I will see if they last as long as how much was paid for it. Seems to being doing well, especially the brush roller; very strong and picking up even berber rug pile. Very easy to empty container and with the model ordered, lots of useful attachments.

We tested out our refurbished dyson the second we received it. First I vacuumed the entire family room with our old vacuum. Then went over it with the dyson- absolutely amazing...and disgusting at the same time. It's amazing how much of the fine particles it picks up! Highly recommended.

This vacuum is fantastic. The Dyson Company has truly thought of everything with this one. It has lots of nice features...the beater bar even shuts off automatically when you put the handle in the upright position. I have had vacuums in the past that while trying to use the attachments, the beater bar is continuously beating on the carpet or floor. The suction is great and it picks up everything. Hint…don't get too close to a shirt on the floor. It will get sucked up! The amount of dust and dirt that it picks up is unbelievable. The only negative things I can think of would be the weight, but I do not have stairs, so it is not an issue. I would highly recommend this vacuum to anyone.

I have to say I have owned this vacuum for about 2 weeks and vacuum nearly everyday .This is the nicest vacuum I have owned.It has lots of attachments that came with this model. It was reconditioned but looks brand new and the attachments were all new still sealed in box. I have bought 3 vacuums in the last 5 years that lost suction but now that I finally splurged on a Dyson I will not buy any other brand.It has powerful suction,(I do have pets) and so easy to use, touch of a button controls, and finally I can touch the button to turn off the roller and cruise onto the kitchen floor, to me it is not heavy, no more washing filters constantly and the long power cord is a big plus for me I can go thru the whole house. It is also great having the long attachment hose.I was hesitant to pay so much for the vacuum (even at half price) but I spent more than that on the other cheaper vacs that did not last. As always Overstock has such great prices and I rec'd the Vac within 3 days so I have nothing but good things to say.I sound like a spokesperson but I am so glad I decided to purchase this unit.

We got our refurbished sweeper and it looks brand new. You can't tell at all. I only give it 3 stars for appearance because frankly the industrial design and colors are a bit too much. I can't believe the dirt this thing pulls up. Swept my entire house (2,000sqf) and emptied it 7 times in 1 week. We haven't used carpet powder in 4-5 years but you could clearly see a layer of white powder in the tank that it sucked up. We thought our other sweeper was good but it was pathetic compared to this.

I just got my refurbed Dyson yesterday, and after its first day on the job, I give it 5 stars. My berber carpets actually have texture again! I truly believe I have never owned a vacuum that actually works. I have 2 cats (one short-haired and one long) and it picked up the kitty tumbleweeds on both the carpet and the bamboo floors perfectly. It was easy to put together and operate, and emptying the canister was a breeze. The only way I can even tell that this was refurbished model is: it came in a generic box and there is a small scratch(hardly noticeable) on the metal wand. I am very pleased with my purchase.

This unit vacuums up an unbelievable amount of stuff! The only issue I had was figuring out how the 3 attachements fit on the unit.
