We have a moderate sized back yard and so far it helps contain the waist and contribute to our compost. For the price and size it's perfect for our needs.Read More
I bought this chipper to tackle the pile of debris leftover from Hurricane Isaac and jumpstart my compost pile. I was only able to chip for 10 minutes before it started stopping suddenly as if it were jammed, though I wasn't even feeding. Not sure if it was offbalance or what, but I ended up getting frustrated and quitting after having to take it apart and reassemble it to reset the "jam"Read More
Was happy with the price and decent reviews so I decided to buy it. I set it up, bought the power cord specified in the instruction manual, turned it on... seconds later it turned off. An electrician informed me I couldn't use it because my exterior outlets are GFCI-protected (pretty standard) and it turns out this unit won't work with GFCI protected outlets. Boxed it and returned it to Overstock but am stuck with the power cord. Something else to consider - the location of your outlets. The power cord has to be under 100 feet so you may find yourself hauling your pile to the house in order to use the shredder.Read More
The shredder was easy enough to assemble and operate. The only concern I have is that the exhaust chute is low to the ground. I've had to repeatedly clear the area under the chute to prevent the unit from becoming clogged and shutting down.Read More
Great item for the money. Was very easy to assemble in a very short time. Once you get the hang of putting the brush thru it does a great job.Read More
I reviewed so many shredders before deciding to get this one for my husband. The biggest problem was finding a site where you could buy a simple household shredder that didn't cost hundreds of dollars. As the other review suggests the directions for putting the unit together are unclear in some places but my husband was able to get it together and working within an hour. Our yard clippings have been piling up for months waiting for us to get a shredder and they were gone within 2 days of only 3 hrs of shredding. Only once did we see sparks fly out of the machine which we think was caused by us accidently throwing a rock into the machine. I uses ordinary garbage bags to collect the mulch. So far it's a great unit. Don't expect to be able to put in really thick branches but half an inch to inch diameter branches it seems to take care of with ease.Read More
I had a big pile of clippings and branches I had collected, it worked quite well to mulch up branches & leaves once I got the hang of it and to turn the branches when they didn't seem to want to go any farther. I wish I had it all along so my pile would not have gotten so big to begin with.Read More
The assembly/user instructions are terrible - useless. No big deal common sense to assemble=no problems. We've had a unit a little smaller for last 10 yrs and this one kicks butt!! As with most small units, don't force material into shredder - let it do the work. It's quieter and stronger than anything else in it's catagory. Taking it appart easier to unclog grass jambs would be nice - just go slow. Nice safety feeder wand - does the job and keeps finger safe!!Read More
I am happy with the product. It is exactly what I paid for and works as expected.Read More
It is a strong little machine. The hopper is a bit small so a lot of stuff falls out over the sides and has to be picked up agian. But other than that is is good. We are using it to chop up Magnolia leaves and branches it is workingRead More
