Great Shredder
I reviewed so many shredders before deciding to get this one for my husband. The biggest problem was finding a site where you could buy a simple household shredder that didn't cost hundreds of dollars. As the other review suggests the directions for putting the unit together are unclear in some places but my husband was able to get it together and working within an hour. Our yard clippings have been piling up for months waiting for us to get a shredder and they were gone within 2 days of only 3 hrs of shredding. Only once did we see sparks fly out of the machine which we think was caused by us accidently throwing a rock into the machine. I uses ordinary garbage bags to collect the mulch. So far it's a great unit. Don't expect to be able to put in really thick branches but half an inch to inch diameter branches it seems to take care of with ease.

Pleased
I had a big pile of clippings and branches I had collected, it worked quite well to mulch up branches & leaves once I got the hang of it and to turn the branches when they didn't seem to want to go any farther. I wish I had it all along so my pile would not have gotten so big to begin with.

Good Chipper Shredder
The assembly/user instructions are terrible - useless. No big deal common sense to assemble=no problems. We've had a unit a little smaller for last 10 yrs and this one kicks butt!! As with most small units, don't force material into shredder - let it do the work. It's quieter and stronger than anything else in it's catagory. Taking it appart easier to unclog grass jambs would be nice - just go slow. Nice safety feeder wand - does the job and keeps finger safe!!

Great purchase!
Great item for the money. Was very easy to assemble in a very short time. Once you get the hang of putting the brush thru it does a great job.

Take it slow
Feed the hopper slowly and this machine will get the job done. It will trip a 15 amp breaker but a 20amp will do OK. The motor seemed to slow after feeding dry root balls. A little 3-in-1 oil fixed the problem. Don't block the discharge chute or the unit will clog.

Love his Chipper
I have used the chipper now about 4 times and I am used to it and I make sure that I stop periodically and clean out the bottom area especially when chipping really green moist foliage. The really dry leaves and branches flow through easily and the wet green stuff binds together easily. Now that I understand my chipper I love it and it works well for me. I did have the electrician come and put in an outlet that could deliver more power because it was tripping my breaker. I am very pleased with this product.

A good, smaller-sized chipper/shredder
I had been looking for a small chipper/shredder for several years. Didn't want the monsters I found at Home Depot and thought the really small ones would be ineffective. Then I found this model. It has ample horsepower to shred leaves and garden waste. When feeding it fresh waste (read moist), feed slowly or it jams. Overall it does a good job.
