The lamp brightens the desk that it sits on. I have added a dimmer to it so I can use it for mood lighting as it is my great room. The lamp was very well packaged.

Pleased with this lamp
I had been looking for a lamp this size that would take a three way bulb. This does the job. I'm very pleased. My only complaint is that I wish the shade were more off white. It's very bright white and I don't think the picture shows the lamp with the bulb on. It's a minor disappointment. It kind of takes over the corner of the room where I have it. A bone (off white) shade would tone it down a bit. The distressed effect is just what I wanted in the base.
