Okay so the distressed look is a little too uniform it looks as though it was scratched coming out of the packaging. You could get a sharpie and color it in if ya wanted to. Other than that it is a great piece of furniture. I really adore it. It hides the trash which is nice. It was simple to put together took about an hour. Yep I would say go ahead and buy it.

This trash bin is wonderful! It looks great and the baskets are big. I didn't like that the cutting table is set into the top of the cabinet with a hole underneath. I was planning to throw the cutting board away since I don't need it, but since there's a hole underneath it I had to leave it in place. Not a big deal. Just wished that they had made the top one whole piece. I have put together a lot of furniture before so I wasn't scared by the people saying it was hard to put together. The directions are always hard to understand for things like this. But I would have to say that these were the worst directions I have come across yet! We were able to get the cabinet together just fine, but we wish they would have given us clear directions. The reason why we purchased the cabinet in the first place is that our dog loved to get into the garbage. There is no possible way for her to get into it now. Love the cabinet for that reason.

I have put many furniture kits together, but needed assistance putting this one together. One of the holes which should have been drilled was not, so we used plenty of wood glue to make it a bit more sturdy. It seens to have a toxic finish which gave us immediate headaches. The odor was similar to permanent marker fluid. We had to leave it in a closed room with the window open for a full week in order to tolerate working on it. It would be helpful if Overstock would always specify the country of orgin. Thank you.

Had this unit for three or so years. Although assembly would have been easier with three hands, I completed the entire project solo, using wood glue as I do with all these projects, in probably a couple of hours. The unit is VERY sturdy and I continue to garner compliments on its form and function. I have no problems with tearing trash bags (and the bag goes DIRECTLY in the compartment secured with a frame at top, I've never used a trash can inside the compartment), perhaps larger bags are in order. The only drawback I can name is that the melamine does scratch where one drags the baskets in and out, but I have been successful using just a black permanent marker to cover scratches. I did also spray paint the cutting board black and added a handle as I never intended to use it as a cutting board and this is our recycle bin.

This product sits in my kitchen as a recycle bin for bottles and cans. We put a plastic bag inside the trash container area. There is a wooden lip that secures the plastic bag.No more unsightly bags with recycled "stuff" laying around the kitchen. My 17 year old put it together with no problem. We are very pleased with this purchase!

The unit itself, once put together is really nice looking and has great functionality. I love being able to hide away my ugly trash can. It wasn't difficult to put together, but remember to use wood glue as well. It helps make it all the more sturdy. Also, it seemed bigger in the picture, I put it together and realized it sits much lower than I expected. (I wont even use the cutting board, because you'd have to awkwardly bend over to do so.) The only downfall were the baskets, they are a little stiff and brittle. They don't pull in & out smoothly. I am thinking of lining the drawers with felt or something to help. Overall it is a great piece and well worth the money! If you like the picture, you'll love the item in your home!

I was really impressed with this trash bin/storage table. It is very sturdy!..The cutting board on top protects the finish and the baskets work great for storing potatoes, onins and even the trash bag supplies. It has been a wonderful addition to my kitchen! No more unsightly covered garbage can sitting out!

Purchased for use in my mud room; now no junk mail gets into the house to sit on the dining room table for a week; junk is tossed immediately. I converted the cutting board to a lid by spray painting it black and attaching the knob from the trash bin (I used some other random knob I had for the bin - adds to the character of the piece) so I now have a handy-dandy cat food storage facility. Lift the lid, pull out a can, pop the top, feed the cat and toss the stinky can. Assembly difficulty about a 6 on 10 scale. I used wood glue in addition to hardware supplied and I have a very sturdy unit. More paint loss than desired during assembly but that was easily remedied. Basket frames WILL drag and mar the finish if baskets are filled with heavy items. Overall, I'm highly pleased with this purchase and it has already contributed to a more organized, less cluttered house.

Very functional. Looks a lot better than just a plain trash bin sitting in the corner of the room. It was a little tricky trying to put it together, especially the bin door that pulls out from the top. I use the baskets lined with plastic bags to sort my recycleables. Overall very happy with my purchase.

I was looking for something that wouldn't take up much space near a door (i.e. depth) but would give me access to a few everyday items and/or a place to put recyclables that didn't look like another garbage can-I got both in this. The "distressed" look is nothing more than a couple of faded away spots so it doesn't have a real "old" furniture look to it but it is well-crafted and versatile. The cutting board doesn't make much sense on it if it used as a real garbage bin but it is a nice looking addition since I put it in the dining room near the kitchen-looks like it's waiting for some cheese and crackers for a get together. Lots of parts for a small furniture item, clear out a nice space to build it in before taking parts out.

This table did exactly what we wanted it to do - hide the trash can. It seems solid to me and it was easy to put together. The baskets are a medium brown and hold quite a bit. I put all of my tupperware in the 3 baskets and its very organized now. The price is also good, I did a lot of research on similar items and this is the best combination of low price and functionality. My only complaints are that it is shorter than I expected and the "distressed" look was bad. I colored in the white lines with a black sharpie and you can't tell. I also dislike the fact that the cutting board isn't optional because the table is way too low to use it for that.

I love this thing. It is the perfect item in my remodeled kitchen to hold trash and have a little more storage. It was relatively easy to put together and I have had tons of compliments on it. Also I must say that Overstock always get my items to me very quickly. I do love Overstock.com

The drawers are not big enough. For the money I paid for it, it should give me more room to organize stuff in my kitchen.

Wish the baskets were stainless steel. At least the baskets were a good quality. I ended up just using the spaces for the baskets as shelves to store towels. The cutting board thing on top is useless & ugly. Not sure what it's purpose is.

the way they tell you to put this together, leaves you with the "trash" bin being FORCED into the hinge slots. Of course, this broke the hinges, which then had to be removed, with the slide pins (which are no longer needed & in the way) so i can only use it as a "pull-out, push back" garbage bin-------more work than i care to do to throw out a piece of gum!!! The hinges are a piece of junk. Luckily my boyfriend is handy & will improvise to make it work. Buy the unit with the cabinet door instead. That was my mistake. ('cause it is pretty)

I was a little concerned with assembly because of some of the other reviews BUT, having assembled many many other pieces of furniture over the years, I was hoping I could do it... This was SO easy to assemble. No problems with holes not lining up. No problems with scratching the wood. I had the entire thing assembled within 40 minutes. I got compliments from everyone at my dinner party the following night! One woman even asked where I'd gotten it because she wanted one for her house :) The other funny thing was, no one realized it was the trash! They all thought it looked too nice - haha! I will be painting the cutting board because it's kind of a strange addition to this piece.

I received this in a timely fashion, per usual from overstock. It's been about two weeks, and the thing still reeks of chemicals. Even the "wicker" baskets smelled terrible and I left them out on my deck for the entire day and they still didn't air out. I get a headache every time I open the trash door and everything that I've stored in the baskets now smells like chemicals. The entire thing, including baskets looks and feels very cheap and although I really like the functionality and style of it, this was by far the biggest waste of money on furniture yet. In my opinion, I think it is very overpriced for the quality but unfortunately, its assembled and will cost an arm and a leg to ship back for a refund, so I guess I'm keeping it, nasty smell and all.

Delivery was fast. Assembly was easy. Piece looked perfect in my small kitchen. Just love it. If you want to hide your trash can this is the way to do it. I got rid of my trash bin which was an eye sore.

I bought this trash bin storage table to be used for sorting my mail as I bring it in. It looks excellent in my dining area of my kitchen and it serves it's purpose very well. I only gave it 4 stars because I feel that the price is plenty high. I am sincerely happy with it and it looks great but it's not solid wood by any means (I knew that buying it). As far as putting it together, it's rather difficult but I did get it done in just over an hour. It was worth the effort. I think if you are looking for a functional, good-looking product this product will work well for you. Oh and for sorting mail this works wonders!!!

I have had this piece for about 4 years now. It has held up well. It was scratched upon delivery and was a little challenging during assembly. Overall, worth it.
