Disappointed. It was not clear that the AC adapter was not included, just that the batteries are not. Also, there is only one speed for the blower to work and it is "very low". On a hot day a regular fan would probably work just as well without the frozen water hassle.

For $20.00 this is a bargain! The water does melt fast so I bought 2 of these for back up. The fan is plastic so we will see how long this lasts but so far I am very happy! It's a bit loud, but it doesn't bother me. It is really only good for a SMALL area of space, but efficient.

Not Worth The Money
from Richmond, KY.,  Aug 1, 2006

I bought one of these for my desk at work. I have it about 2 feet from my face and CAN NOT FEEL ANYTHING. This is a great idea but the fan is WAY to weak. Plus the bottle of frozen water melts WAY to fast. It only stays cooler for about the first 10 min. before it's just sweat on the outside that isn't even cold. Then it takes forever (overnight) before the bottle is cold enough for the next 10 min. But you can't feel it anyway unless you stick your face in it !! You would be better off just freezing a bottle of water and setting it in your lap.

The worst
from Miami fl,  Oct 7, 2006

What a joke this thing was I'm sorry I bought it> My husband laughed at me but I wanted to believe it. If this is going to work the motor should be faster and come with at least 2 bottles, so when one bottle defrosts you have another that U can replace quickly

It's ok all things considered
from Salt Lake City, UT,  Apr 2, 2007

It's not the most aesthetically pleasing device, but it works great at the office for a small space. It sits high enough that it doesn't blow paperwork around. The fan is more powerful with an adapter than with batteries, each are sold separately. Works with most water bottles, so no need to spend so much on a second device when you can spend a dollar or two on a large water bottle to keep in the freezer for when the one provided thaws out. I've only had it for a week or so, so I have no notion of its durability. The water bottle weighs down the fan a bit so that it clacks against the cover-just don't close the cover all the way and it works fine.

Fun, but not an A/C unit
from Atlanta, GA,  Sep 20, 2006

This item is fun and not much more. It does get cool and will help. BUT it will not cool a room. There is only one setting for the fan. If there were more, I think it would be a lot better. It would be good for a student's dorm room or someone needing that extra coolness.

Desktop AC Poor Performance
from Gorham, NY,  Sep 18, 2006

The Desktop AC's fan blades hit the sides of the outside housing and creates a loud clicking noise. To sent the product back would cost almost what the price was. The amount of air produced by the fan is faint and hardly creates a breeze. Directions claim the frozen water bottle should last about 3 hours but hardly lasts 1 hour even in cool room temperatures. The theory of this desktop AC is great but needs improvement in this model.

Great little fan for my Desk!
from New York, NY.,  Aug 4, 2006

For the past few weeks, we have been swamped with extreme heat! Our air conditioning in our office is horrible right now, and so I got this little thing. I didn't think it was going to work as well as it does. My wife got me 2 of these for my office, and I have to admit...it works great! I wish it was a little bit bigger, but for the money that my wife saved buying these in comparison to others...this is a GREAT little fan!

I purchased this product recently. My office envionment is too warm, and I thought this product would be helpful in a cubicle environment. I think the idea is a great one, but the product design could use some work. Specifically, the fan is way too weak. You have to be less than a foot or so from the blower to feel any benefit. Also, it did not come with a plug/adapter to plug it in. It requires 2DD batteries, which can get expensive if running it all day. Again, it is a great a idea, but needs some work. The price is fair if it worked better, but it simply doesn't. I have to say I was disappointed :-(

Not worth it
from Los Angeles,  Jun 27, 2007

I am pretty disappointed, the unit does not have much power, need to be very close to feel breeze. Doesn't come with the a/c adaptor, so you will need to either buy one or use batteries. However, due to the low price I am not surprised.

Desk Top Air conditioner
from North Florida,  Sep 15, 2006

This is exactly what I hoped it would be! I keep it on my night stand to cool me. Now my husband does not have to freeze at night with a lower thermostat setting! We both love it.

Desktop Ac
from Key West, Fl,  Sep 15, 2006

Didn't work very well outdoors but it will be great for hurricanes when the power goes out! I bought it to keep cool at my outdoor bartending job but the fan just isn't powerful enough. But I'll be able to sleep soundly with this thing blowing on me when there's no power!

Disappointed
 from Atlanta,  Sep 15, 2006

Having purchased and used one of these desk top a/c units several years ago, I would have (and did) recommend them to anyone. Unfortunately, these last few (5) that I purchased have all had problems, they leak, they are much noisier than the ones a few years ago, and overall just do not seem to hold up like the model used to. I can not pinpoint what has changed, but they have gone from something I would recommend to anyone, to something I would caution against.
