The place where you sit down to work, pay bills, or just catch up with social media should be comfortable, and it doesn't hurt if it's beautiful, too. Mainly, your desk needs to be a place where you can focus on the task at hand, whatever that may be. Here's what to look for while you shop.
First, you'll need to ask yourself how large of a desk you need. If you just need a place to set your laptop while you write a few emails and check your bank balance, then a small writing desk or secretary will be enough. If you have a desktop computer with a printer, speakers, and other components, you'll need something larger. If you like to have your reference materials nearby, choose something with shelves, drawers, or a hutch.
Next, the room where you'll set up your home office will need to factor into your decision. Large workstations are great for dividing up larger rooms while corner desks are ideal for focusing your thoughts in a cozy room. If the room will be your dedicated home office, then choose something with a bold style and decorate around it. If you're adding a home office area to another room, coordinate the finish and the details with the existing furniture there. A desk with doors may be helpful in a room like this, too, so you can close everything up when you're not working.
Finally, you'll need to think about who will use the desk most. If your inner entrepreneur is telling you to be your own boss, then it could be time to start shopping for home office furniture. Choose a desk that inspires you, whether it's the style that gets your creativity going or just the space to spread out your things. If you're setting up a study space for your child, look for a student desk that has room for a computer as well as an open textbook. If you do a lot of typing, you may want to look for something that comes with a keyboard tray.

If you have an engineering back round or are very handy and say build model planes for a hobby have at this building project, otherwise be advised to choose another product. First of all the only written directions are those that warn you that if you are not very careful in prepping for this build that it will take hours and be very frustrating. That was great advice. secondly each step which shows only pictures and the 16 to 20 bolts, pegs, counter screws and screw locks etc that are necessary for that step may have 3 to 4 different areas on the desk to be worked on and if you don't intuitively know what order to place the myriad of fasteners it will mess up the project and the desk will not go together correctly. Long story short there were three adults together in a quite and empty room. We laid everything out as suggested. We took our time on the build. But due to the over complicated nature of the build and the very poor guidance by the directions, we were not able to compl...

Looks good, not comfortable, hard to assemble.

I got this desk to put in my living room. It has a flip up lid so I could easily hide my lap top and stuff quickly to get it out of site. I looks great, but I didn't realize that it wasn't at a normal sitting height. I am 5'2" and I can stand and work at it. The stool is very uncomfortable in fact I am standing typing because my legs fall asleep if I sit too long. The instructions had no words so you really had to concentrate to figure it out. I called for clarification on the instructions and although they were very nice they couldn't answer my question right away, it had to be sent to the department that assembles things. Not good since this thing was spread all over my living room floor waiting to be assembled. I never got a response from them. I was able to figure out a way to put it together in my own way. It also came with a torn bottom of the inside of the desk. Its made out of light weight thin board that probably won't hold too much weight. They did send a replacement pretty q...

    Cute desk for a teen

This desk was purchased for a teen's bedroom where a smaller size was needed. We chose solid black. Visually it does not consume a large space due to the open shelves and slanted design. The large bottom drawer has the hardware for hanging file folders. It is very sturdy and finished nicely. No jagged edges or misaligned pieces. Be prepared for the time it will take to put the many together, a few hours,
