This rug is very unique in style. The only reason I'm rating it a 4 star is because it's not exactly easy to clean. Shaking it over my balcony is one option. Vacuuming is an option as well, but I'm concerned that the vacuum would tear apart the fine leather pieces. I may need to get creative on this one. Idea's, recommendations?

I was looking for an area rug to tie together my living room space. I wanted something different and this definitely fits the bill. It is a conversation piece. The leather is soft and the texture adds a contemporary, but cozy feel to the space. Like others noted, it has a stonger leather smell upon arrival, but it isn't bad and becomes much less noticeable in a week or so. I would definitely suggest it to a friend.
So I bought this rug for my beach house. I believe I originally decided to buy it because A: it would be a good talking point for when I bring people over, and B: because, well, it's leather shag, lol. Let me just say, the rug did not disappoint. It looks awesome, people love it, and it instantly made me cooler than any of my other roommates.Long story short, if you want to be awesome, purchase this rug.
I love my rug, but it is a bit strange. Looks like a pile of leaves on the floor, with all the color variations and the depth of the pile. The strips of leather are not at all uniform and some are barely holding on. Some strips have white paper labels on the back side as these strips are obviously remnants from a leather store. As others mentioned, there are a number of strips that aren't attached, but it's such a "full" rug you don't notice it. I'm not sure how I'll clean it since you can't vacuum it (some strips are about 7 inches long!) and I'm afraid it would fall apart if I shook it out! So why have I given it 5 stars? I LOVE how it looks! Very funky, but it works.
I think that my boyfriend could have used this as a camoflauge shelter when hunting. The rug was extremely heavy but it looked like they had just thrown random scraps of leather together and sewed over them a few times. I thought that it was be completely different, instead it was long skinny straps of leather and you were able to see the woven rug underneath. It was also very hard and would not be comfortable being walked on. They recommended another rug that was around 180 for 8x11 and had colors gray, chocolate, beige etc. so I might order that one and see what it looks like. I was really looking for a shaggy rug my grandpa has that is actually made out of jersey cotton.
