We wanted to mount the Dimplex on a ledge stone wall in our living room When the unit came and we opened it, we realized that the firebox looked unfinished. The frame is significantly wider than the firebox and it would look very odd on a wall. It is not possible to stone around it since it vents from the firebox. We did not see the flame and cannot speak to that but aesthetically the dimensions of this unit did not make keeping it an option. Overstock graciously accepted the return. We will need to try a different Dimplex model.

For the price I paid, this is excellent and very cute. It is not the highest quality (feet rattles as it is not perfectly made) and does not go well with super classic expensive looking fireplace, but it is very nice for casual, normal looking fireplace. It is not good for WBFP, but for decorative fireplace (l recommend Dimplex heater inside), it adds warm and cozy atmosphere.

I love everything about this fireplace except the reflective background. I was surprised it had a mirrored background. No where in the description did it mention this. The pictures made it look like it was a black background. No one mentioned it in their review. This reflective background really takes away from the realistic look of the flames. Everything else about this fireplace is great. I can't send it back so I will be selling it. Dimplex says all their units are reflective. Just beware of this!

I have such a small house, it made sense to replace a larger media cabinet plus the standalone electric fireplace I had when I bought a new flatscreen tv. I was a bit concerned by reviews that said it was difficult to assemble, but my boyfriend had it together in less than an hour. Of course, he's quite the handyman. If I'd done it, it would have taken much longer. The quality seems good, the color was what I expected. I like having doors over the shelves. I am somewhat disappointed in the fireplace, however. The Dimplex standalone I had previously served me well for several years, and is now warming my boyfriend's big bedroom, so not a total loss. But this fireplace is so much noisier than my old one, even when it's just the flame and logs turned on without the heater. Perhaps I should see about swapping the fireplace. Maybe it's defective? And this one doesn't put out the amount of heat my old one did. We'll see how things go as winter sets in. All in all, I'm happy with it. I suppose any time I have the noisy fireplace on I'll also have the tv or stereo on, so perhaps it won't be as annoying as I expect.

In Houston we don't need fireplaces much and I don't like to clean fireplaces. This is an easy fix and remote control fire is awesome

First of all, despite of being overweight item, fireplace arrived quickly. Then it was a HUGE box, really well packed. And then here we go...10 min. to assemble and you standing in front of it speechless. I had no doubts that for such price it should be a good quality, but I underestimated it. It's absolutely standing piece of equipment. Gives you good amount of heat as well as being a center piece, no matter where you put it. Beautiful and luxurious!!! Very happy and highly recommend to everybody

Exactly what I was looking for. I wish that it had a little more heat to it, but otherwise perfect.

I didn't expect to like this fireplace as much as I do. It blows out heat which is really nice in my cooler bedroom and it's really cool!

Beautiful addition to home especially for those without built-in fireplaces. Everything in the description is true!!! Love the Big O.

This is a very nice electric fireplace. The only thing I would suggest is purchasing some different wall anchors. The ones offered are not efficient. Otherwise, it's a beautiful product.

We were looking for a contemporary sleek looking fire, and found it with this one. It is so good looking, and has a realistic flame. We obviously didn't want it for heating purposes living in SW Florida, but wanted something good to fill in the hole in our wall unit This fits the bill nicely, and matches our tv exactly. We are so pleased to have bought this. If you are looking for something good on the eye this is for you.

Parts where missing from the original console . After a week of waiting for resolve , they were waiting 3-5 days to hear from the warehouse . After a week past they decided to just send me another console and for me pull out the parts that were missing then send the rest back, three days went by and I received some of the parts I had originally requested. I appreciated overstock sending the second console ,but the week that it took them to make up their mind wasn't cool , not to mention I had to haul the 150lb console box to ups to send back. With all that being said , I really like my console.

This would have been a great fireplace if it didn't arrived chipped in 3 places (one about the size of a nickle and on top), and almost falling out of the box on one end, due to bottom of box heavily damaged/ripped. It was left in front of garage door exposed to the elements on the day of a snowstorm. I thought about sending it back, but the package was so huge, and I may have to repackage due to box damaged, so not worth the hassle. It's just for the family room anyway, so it wasn't that bad. But definitely not worth the money I paid for it. Plus, all the hardware were mixed together in one bag. Shelves didn't have any "letter" labels, considering the instructions just had pictures and letters. It almost made me cry, because I thought I wouldn't be able to put it together. It took me and my husband an hour to figure out where things went. Never again would I order "assemby needed" furnitures from Overstock. Very disappointed!!!!

First of all, I had been looking for an electric fireplace for the same primary two reasons other folks are; heat-source, and of course aesthetics. After several months of reviewing a plethora of units (On-line), from a multitude of manufacturers, I grew weary and tired. For example: Which style looks more authentic, and which looks more fake; the Lava, or the flame? Then do you prefer the wood, mirror, or glass fascial? I read review after review, but could not find a consistent consensus to comfortably purchase online, with any certainty of the product quality or performance. I also went into many hardware and furniture stores, but none had wall mount electric fireplaces displayed, though some did offer a select few that you could catalog order (Bummer). Finally I noticed that most blow from the top, vs front blowers. Well, understanding that heat rises, and my need is for the heat to assist in the same room I plan on mounting it (my living/tv room), the process of effective, and successful elimination had begun. I am now down to maybe three options, and this is the unit I decided upon. Because it also provided me with a remote, along with the fire with-heat, and fire without-heat settings. And since the darker wood finish would best compliment my wall color, I purchased this unit December 2013. Well that certainly helped me narrow down my choice, because again the majority are designed to release heat from their top surface. I might add that this past Winter it was impossible to keep this main room temp comfortable because the older building is drafty, plus I'm on the first of 3 floors. Average heat bill was about $160mo! So the assembly was simple, and the the unit looks terrific, plus exceeded my expectations by knocking the chill off, plus I did not have to run my heat as much so my heating bill was reduced. Friends comment on how nice it is in appearance, and the flame looks more realistic than I expected. Don't get me wrong, there is obviously a difference... It's fake remember. However it accomplished all that I needed and wanted successfully. And I would definitely recommend this product! My only disappointment ment is that I found it for a little less, after purchasing. Hope this is helpful to someone. Best Regard, tway1

We purchased and installed this fireplace about 3 weeks ago and are very pleased with the purchase. We were looking for a contemporary styled electric fireplace that had a large proportion of "viewing" space in relation to the overall frame size. We didn't want any logs (not part of a contemporary look) but would have been OK with some rocks. We also needed the heat to come out the front of the fireplace due to where it was going to be installed. Many of the electric fireplaces were either (1) too small overall, (2) had a big frame but a small viewing area, (3) had a bigger viewing area but had "dark spots" on the sides because the flame mechanism was too small, (4) had a contemporary frame but included fake logs, or (5) the heat came out the bottom. The heat coming out the bottom was the problem with most wall-mounted fireplaces. This fireplace is wide, has nice flames all the way across the large viewing area, has a great glossy black finish (glass with black backing - not paint on metal that can scratch), and heats up our 11x19 media room very quickly. The heat comes out of two vents on the top side of the viewing area with the blower pointing a bit downward (which is good - hot air rises). The one functional change we would have liked is for the remote to allow the use of flames with or without heat. The remote is "on/off" only and the switch for turning the heat on or off is on the side of the fireplace (manually operated). What this means is that if the heat switch is on, then when the remote is used to turn the fireplace on you get flame + heat. If the heat switch is off, then when the remote is used to turn the fireplace on you get flame only. It would be nice to be able to use the remote to turn on the flame with heat, then turn the heat off or on again with the remote. Also, be aware that the wall mounting design is a little flimsy. There are two slots on the back of the fireplace unit that the bracket slides into and the back of the fireplace bows out a little under the weight of the unit. My husband added a support to the fireplace underneath and put an L-bracket on the top to further secure it to the wall. I shopped all types of electric fireplaces and this combination of style, function and price represents a very good value. The electric fireplaces that were 3-4 times the price of this one had better remotes, adjustable LED lights and coloring, and available cracked glass media, but the flames weren't any nicer and I like the contemporary look of this frame, so the simpler functionality and no media were trade-offs that I was willing to make.
