Defective toaster
A year after I purchased this toaster, the timer stopped working. That meant that it was not turning off after I set it, and unless I pulled the plug, it would continue toasting. After two small smoke incidents I decided to contact De Longhi customer support, and they refused to service it because it was just over a year old. I barely use this toaster and it was faulty to begin with. I highly recommend that you do NOT purchase their products...not because I am bitter over $$$ (as I can easily afford a new one), but because De Longi products like this one seem to be a fire hazard.
