David Wendel was born in Kansas City, Missouri, in 1954. His dad was a salesman, so they moved often, settling to Georgia in 1969. He's lived there since then. Wendel married in 1979 settling down with his wife Kate, two sons, Drew and Tor, and their two dogs, Comet and Benny. Concerning his artwork in general, subject matter is something Wendel finds visually interesting, but in the end, not near as important as the execution of the composition. The contrast of shape, space and light define the piece. A reflective quality is one that Wendel find himself searching out, and he feels it gives the piece life and energy. The subject image is one that can be taken from anywhere.From an execution standpoint, Wendel's style has gone from a pastel, wash-like quality to a thicker, loaded brush type style over the years. The texture that a lot of paint gives a piece a depth, playing with the available light, giving it that three dimensional feel.

I LOVE Overstock. I buy a few things a month here and the service is ALWAYS amazing. Just a note to beware on this piece; while the Artists' works are amazing, this rendition is not. It looks like someone color copied the original painting and put it on a canves and stretched it. On overstock you often get more than what you pay for, but here, you get exactly what you pay for, I'm sadly going to be returning this. Just beware it is not a good rendition at all and the sides of the canvas are black, as in it looks very cheap.
I absolutely love this painting. The canvas looks great -- no dimples or impressions from shipping -- and the artist's work is great. The colors are vivid and powerful. I much prefer Wendel's similar paintings versus his automotive works. Overstock needs more of these!
