  • Simple, Inexpensive Facelift for my Doors!

    I love small home projects that I can do myself and this one turned out to be very rewarding! I purchased 4 privacy and 5 passage Dark Oil-Rubbed Bronze knobs to replace the basic, shiny brass knobs in my home. The oil-rubbed bronze mushroom knobs were just the ticket. Simple design but they look great and frankly, seem to be better quality than what I had before.... I was surprised to find plastic components on my existing latch bolts.....the new knobs are all metal, and though not as heavy in weight as you might be expecting, are perfectly adequate for interior passage and privacy. I had one small problem that was easily fixed and I suspect that the non-standard aspect was with the original drilling of my doors and not any non-standard issue with the new knobs. The latch bolt on the new knobs are approximately 1/8 inch longer than what I had existing, creating the need for me to carve out a small 'pocket' on the interior face of the hole to allow the bolt to insert fully and the latch face to mount flush against the side of the door. The latch on these knobs is actually adjustable, but the adjustment capability is to make it longer, not shorter. Overall, I am extremely pleased.

  • Very pretty, but the latch piece is a bit shallow

    I really love the way this doorknob looks and feels in your hand. The only problem we have is that the "tongue" like piece that fits into the latch on the door seem a bit shallow, making it difficult to know the door is securely latched. This wouldn't be such a problem if it weren't for the powder room off our center hall!
