overall this product is very good. The fan is a little loud, but as we are not in the basement most of the day we just turn it off when it is bothersome. It was easy to get up and running, moves relatively easily over carpet. Love the fact the the fan blows the air up and not out the front.
After two weeks operation, the unit works great, as quiet a dehumidifier as I have had (though no effective dehumidifier can be truly called "quiet") with +-5% of the desired humidity so it is has a pretty long on / off cycle. For some reason the fan, which does emit some noise, runs continuously, but. Temperature elevation in teh space being dehumidfied in a mere 3 degrees. Best of all is the high energy efficiency -- 1.8,virtually as good as you can get for a non-commercial unit (which would cost three times as much). I spent probably 20 hours researching the best unit -- low electricity use, as quiet as possible, dependable and under $300. I am pretty sure I found it. If you want to compare energy efficiencies, EPA has a regularly updated spreadsheet for current models, but be warned that it is not always accurate -- make sure to double check the manufacture and any available reviews.
