An ancient Roman architect, Vitruvius, wrote a series of books on architecture. In one of the volumes he states the human body is the model of perfection. Vitruvius justifies this by stating that the human body, with arms and legs extended, fits into the perfect geometric forms, the circle, and the square.
This fragment of the philosophy of Pythagoras seized the imagination of the Renaissance. Many artists tried to illustrate this divine relationship, but with varying success. It took the genius of Leonardo da Vinci to solve the problem. Leonardo started by drawing a perfectly proportioned man and then found the circle and square in the figure. Vitruvius states the measurements of the human body are as follows: 4 fingers make 1 palm; 4 palms make 1 foot; 6 palms make 1 cubit; 4 cubits make a man's height. Four cubits make one pace and 24 palms make a man. The length of a man's outspread arms is equal to his height and so on.

Very Nice!
This is a nice and classical addition to any medical office or as a addition to any home collection of art. The frame enhances the beige parchment appearance of the piece with a merlot richness that makes this suitable for hanging in rooms having expensive decor or it can upgrade the look of a home with more value conscience pieces. If you're looking for the Vitruvian Man, this is a nice reproduction at a very nice price.
- How did the color on site compare with the actual product? I liked it very much. Mine is not as rosy as the site picture depicts. It's a beige, cream, parchment overtone. Perhaps the vendor adjusted this already.

off color
I was very excited for this one to come but when it got here i was disappointed in that it seems to have a very rosie hue instead of looking neutral or brownish. That really takes away from the old world feel I wanted. It still looks nice and the frame looks very nice.

Medical Must
I am a healthcare provider and this is a beautiful addition to my office. It is of good quality and well worth the low price. If you are into this type of thing, go for it. The only thing is that that it is not a large piece, so don't expect that. I would call it a medium-sized piece, maybe on the smaller side of medium.
