This item uses 3/4 horse power. I was not able to find many differences between the two models other than weight and price.

Are the discs on all models standard? I'm buying this as a replacement to my old Cuisinart and I want to know if my old discs can be used in a newer model.

All of the mixers were recently updated by Cuisinart.
I therefore do not think that your old blades will work with the new models.
