Great price
 from California,  Nov 28, 2007

I have used it for about a month now and absolutely love it. Works perfect, no problems and well worth the price. Don't let the fact that it was sent back discourage you, I think some of these are just returns from customers who decided they didn't want it. It is a bit larger then some of the other coffee machines. Love, love, love it.

Good to the Last Drop!
from San Pedro, CA,  Sep 15, 2007

We love this coffeemaker. It makes a great cup of coffee ~ especially with the gold filter that was included. I love the stainless carafe ~ it keeps coffee hot for at least 2 hours (if it lasts that long) ~ Is easy to use and comes apart easily to clean. Priced well ~ we saved about $60 from the retail price ~ I highly recommend it!

Grind and brew
 from TN,  Dec 22, 2007

This is a beautiful Coffeemaker, I liked everyting about it except, was very dissappointed, that it did not grind the beans as finely as I like. So coffee didn't taste as good as it does when I grind the beans myself. So sorry to say I've gone back to using my old coffeemaker, and grind my own beans.

Good product with some caveats
 from Chicago,  Dec 19, 2007

The product is definitely refurbished. It came with minor blemishes on the outside and looked like it needed a good cleaning on the inside. It functions well, and I'm not really concerned about the requirement to clean it after each use which has been brought up in other reviews. I do that anyway and it is no more problematic than other coffee makers. Overall it is an average product, not a great product. It does make good coffee looks good on the counter. I like the idea of waking up to fresh ground and brewed coffee. Some things to consider: The carafe is odd. I like the idea of not having it sit on a burner, but it is difficult to use. The spout is designed so that you have to almost upend the thing to get a cup of coffee out of it. When you get to the last bit of cofee, you need to take off the lid, which is awkward. The water container is poorly designed. It is almost impossible to use the carafe to fill it. In order to see the cup indicators, you need to look directly down into the device. This is difficult to do when it ison the counter, especially if you are under 6'. An indicator on the outside of the device would be a much better design, I would have preferred the inside of the carafe to be glass rather than metal. I find it adds a metalic taste to the coffee if it sits there. So, I end up pouring the coffee from the carafe (holding it upside down all the while) into a normal glass insulated carafe. Oveall, a usable product, but really nothing special. The big feature is having fresh ground coffee, which is great., but I suspect the more annoying features will not compensate for that over time.

I'm sending it back.
from Allentown, PA,  Nov 21, 2007

This coffee maker is a piece of junk. The grinder is really cheap and it makes a weak cup of coffee. I used excellent beans and completely filled up the grinder for 8 cups of coffee and the result still tasted like dishwater. Blech, I'm returning it. I'm still a fan of overstock though. They did their part sending it to me quickly. at a great price. The problem is with the product quality.

Great except...
from Wheaton, IL,  Nov 21, 2007

This is an awesome product! I like the look and the style, however a few drawbacks... 1. Check the measurements b/c this doesn't fit under my cabinets, and you have to fill it from the top so it can be a pain. 2. Using the grind feature is great, however it can be pretty messy. I thought that the ground coffee would stay in the filter, but as it grinds it's like it moves through the cracks, so I am constantly cleaning the small grinds from the machine. 3. It really doesn't keep your coffee hot that long. Yes, it has a thermal pot, but it seems to cool down quickly. They recommend using hot water to fill the machine so the pot warms up, but it would be great if after brewing it kept it warm. Cosmetically, there we're no flaws and it does make a great pot of coffee. There are just a lot of parts that need to be cleaned after each use and for an everyday coffee drinker, that can hinder the craving.

The best coffee maker I've ever had
 from WA,  Nov 12, 2007

Before deciding to buy Cuisinart Grind and Brew, I had been shopping for a coffee maker for a few weeks. I read a lot of reviews during this time, and each of the coffee makers seemed to have a flow. What people most often complain about with this one are "lots of small parts to clean", so I was expecting a complicated and time-consuming ordeal each time I want to make coffee. I was nicely surprised. There are really only three parts that need to be washed before every use: both parts of the coffee grinder and the lid of the filter compartment. Three more (the filter compartment itself, the caraffe and its lid) need to be rinsed. And that's all! Not more engaging or time-consuming than cleaning any other coffee maker would be. The best part of the coffee maker is the stainless steel caraffe. I'm amazed at how long it keeps the coffee hot. After a few hours, it is still as hot as freshly brewed, and still as tasty. If you brew it in the evening, it's still warm in the morning (why brew it in the evening, though, if you can program it to be freshly made just before you wake up). All without re-heating the coffee, giving it this disgusting taste of re-brewed coffee, or wasting electricity. I have always used freshly ground beans, and the fact the grinder is a part of the coffee maker (rather than a separate appliance) means no more coffee grounds spilt on the counter in transfer from the grinder to the coffee maker. The machine makes strong coffee, full of flavor. Grind and Brew is easy to use, all functions are pretty intuitive. The machine is very compact (takes little counter room) and has a nice, contemporary look. After about a month of using Cuisineart Grind and Brew, there is not one bad thing I could say about it. Not only _would_ I recommend this product to a friend but have already recommended it to some. :-) Just for statistical purposes: I brew 2-3 pots per day, use paper filters and various types of flavored or unflavored coffee.

Coffee
 from Charlotte,  Aug 25, 2007

I have had this product for a week now. I like the ease of one step coffee making. The price is excellent. The write up does not indicate this is a refurbished product. It looks and acts new. I wish the coffee was hotter. The manual says to put hot water in the carafe for a few minutes to warm the vessel. I have been doing this and its still not hot. Not cold either, but I like my coffee hot

Refurbished
 from Nebraska,  Aug 23, 2007

I received the grind and brew coffeemaker and noted, for the first time, a bright yellow tag on the box stating it was "refurbished". I do not remember that being in the description when I placed the order. For the first few times I made coffee, water poured out of the bottom. I tightened everything possible and so far it has not leaked. Mjy comment is, if it is refurbished, it should be clearly stated by Overstock.

Great machine!
 from Ohio,  Dec 11, 2007

I received this machine as a gift and am completely satisfied with the performance and appearance. It makes a great cup of coffee on a pre-set schedule. The grinder grinds the beans to a good consistency....not too many fine grounds which is good for use with the gold filter. The water purification feature is another plus. All in all, I recommend this coffee maker.

Great coffeemaker
from Denver, CO,  Nov 11, 2007

We have been exceptionally pleased with this coffeemaker. Makes great coffee! For everyday use, we make only 4 cups at a time. The 1-4 cup feature is fantastic - piping hot coffee very fast. Love the timer feature too. I saw many comments stating that this unit is very hard to clean. Not true. There is a trick to removing the grinder unit - let the coffeemaker cool down for a while after use. This seems to release the pressure on the mechanism that holds the grinder in place. Once the pressure is gone it pops out easily.

Luke warm
from Los Angeles,  Dec 25, 2007

Overall, I would say that this product was a disappointment. While we have not had the problems of water overflowing as some consumers complained about and cleaning is really not difficult, the thermos does not keep coffee warm nor is it very hot to begin with. The grinder is frightening ly loud and the overall design, while attractive, is not practical. In the long run, we were glad that we did not pay full price. It is not worth more.

Grinder Needs Constant Cleaning
from Los Angeles, CA,  Nov 22, 2007

Bought this because it had a built in grinder, but the grinder doesn't stay clean like a free standing grinder, so you have to take it out a few times a week to clean the pieces. Takes up a lot of counter space and is kind of bulky. Coffee comes out fine though and you won't break the pot since it isn't glass.

Cold Coffee
 from Virginia,  Nov 21, 2007

I loved the idea of this product, and it certainly is attractive on my countertop. But it does not brew a HOT cup of coffee. I'm going back to my $14.99 Mr. Coffee.

Java Tops!
from St Louis,  Nov 19, 2007

Coffee pot is excellent buy. From manufacturer, no blemishes WITH gold filter basket. Only down note deals with design of pot not allowing any change in the grind. I generally grind mine finer - the pot does a med grind only. Had to adjust the amount of water to get the strength of coffee right. Otherwise, simplifys use. Caraffe keeps coffee VERY hot for 4 hrs.

Grind and brew coffeemaker
 from seattle,  Nov 12, 2007

The grinder unit has two shortcomings. It grinds and blows grounds into the perk basket, but doesn't complete the grinding before this happens - resulting in coarse or chunky grounds in the basket instead of a fine grind. The grinder basket is air tight due to the blower design and, as a result, traps water condensate which makes even beans stick to the sides of the grinder on occasion. Then they don't get ground at all.

Great Coffee Machine =)
from Seattle, WA,  Oct 25, 2007

I've had it for about a month and use it daily. It's very convenient and easy to use. It simply makes great coffee and I would buy it again in a heartbeat. The only down side to this is that the grinding compartment is at the top of the water reservoir and gets wet and steamed after using. Basically, if you don't air dry it out for hours before rebrewing, the beans will have to go into a wet grinder.

Cuisinart DGB600BC Grind and Brew Coffee Maker
from Ann Arbor, MI,  Oct 22, 2007

Too many parts and too complicated for a quick pot of coffee. Thermos doesn't keep coffee hot for any period of time (i.e., overnight). Four pieces to clean and wash prior to each cup of coffee. Measure coffee beans, grind, turn off grinder and then turn on machine. If I hadn't thrown the box away, I would have returned it. Sorry, just don't care for it. Great price and great looking but just not great to use.
