Changing from a traditional coffee pot to this one was a little challenging, but it was a change for the better. The timer is great, it sets off the grinder at the correct time (before I am out of bed) and it brews fresh ground coffee every time. The double insulated carafe does keep coffee nice and warm, but not as hot as the burner I was used to. Also not burnt like the burner I was used to, a big plus! I have found that my new system just has to include washing out the grinder parts as soon as I pour the coffee to prevent grounds sticking, but that is a small price to pay for this quality of coffee. The grinder is very loud, and I still chuckle very time I think about the first time it went off at 0500 and I had neglected to tell my husband ahead of time...scared him to death!! I guess we will get used to it. It doesnt stop me from using it, that's for sure. I really am falling in love with this coffee maker, and hope to have it for 10 more years.
I have had one of these in the past and it leaked, but loved the style and how it fit on my counter. I decided to try ore more time and this one is just fine. Have had no problems. It is compact and just what I was hoping for.

I love this pot with the timer and grinder. It's a lovely appliance. My only gripe is the grinder piece, does not always come out easily and is struggle to clean it.

Pros- pretty compact, easy to program and operate Cons - it is a pain to clean up each day. the chamber where you grind the coffee gets wet some how and so it needs to be rinsed out daily not just tapped. There are 3 parts to the basket area that get covered in wet coffee grinds. With normal coffee makers, the grinds dry by the end of the day and you have a powder to clean up that, but this coffee maker leaves a sludge of wet coffee grinds covering the basket that doesn't dry. - the carafe is difficult to empty completely and there is always a small amount of liquid left. Overall, I don't think I would buy this again or recommend b/c of the amount of work it requires. It's easier to have a separate grinder and put into an old fashioned coffee maker.
I will always uby from Overstock due to their great products and FAST shipping. Old coffee maker started leaking 3 days ago, new one arrive today! I am amazed! Thank you Overstock!
the stainless steel cuisinart chew and brew looks like a mighty fortress. It is too bulky, and has too many parts to clean. I would prefer a glass carafe, I am disappointed in the amount of coffee it actually brews. Though the water level in the coffee maker reads 4 cups, it actually only makes barely two. I'm basing this on a normal mug of coffee, not a china cup 4 ounce amount. Of course, having freshly ground and brewed coffee is an inalienable right, and is much appreciated.
I ordered this for the Mountain house and to our delight the carafe it comes with is a thermal Stainless steel, in the picture it looked to be glass. we are thrilled and if it's like our one we have in Dallas we will love how it operates..
I will not bore you, but it's BY FAR the best I have ever owned. You can make as much as you want, and if you are lazy like me, don't clean the chute every time, just open the bean grinder lid after each grind and let it dry out, and I can get 4 good FULL grinds this way, it's just the best I have ever seen, owned and drank from. I will be needing another one, and most of my purchases are around 60 bucks, so I know they are out there cheaper. Yummy
I recommend this grinder/brewer for anyone who loves freshly-ground beans every morning. This is a one-step way to have this kind of coffee every morning. Plus, you can set it up the night before and wake up to it. Warning - it IS loud while it grinds the beans, but what grinder isn't? Also, the carafe keeps the coffee hot without EVER making it taste stale for over 2 hours! Now for the cons (which are pretty small, IMHO): 1) The caraf doesn't fit under the refridgerator water dispenser. So, you have to use something else to get the filtered water into the coffee maker. But it comes with a filter, so if you use tap water, you're fine. 2) It DOES require you to wash a lot of pieces each time. But I always washed the basket and pot every day from my old one, so washing a few more pieces is no big deal to me. We've had this for a few months now and wouldn't trade it for ANY other maker!
This is our second Grind n Brew from Cuisinart and we really enjoy the coffee made from fresh ground beans. I also like the thermal carafe because it keeps the coffee fresh and hot for hours.
So nice to have FRESHLY ground and brewed coffee waiting for me when I want it. There was a problem when two pieces of plastic broke underneath where the brew basket is. I can still get it closed so didn't return for a new one. As long as you are careful should be fine. Gave it three stars because of the price, I was expecting ??? One could buy a grinder and coffee maker for FAR LESS.
I am not a gadget person, so I had to read the directions a couple of times to understand how to operate it. Once that was done, it was an easy process. It makes terrific coffee. The only down side is that grinder, filter, etc. all have to be cleaned after each use. It becomes routine, but it is a little more trouble.
I love the fresh beans, ground just as you make a pot of coffee
