Cuisinart DCC-1150 10-cup Thermal Programmable Coffee Maker (Refurbished)

I wanted to love this machine; it sounded so perfect. I've had a Cuisinart glass carafe coffeemaker for several years that was finally starting to act weird. I read the reviews of this one and liked the idea of the thermal carafe. My husband gets up earlier than i do and i like my coffee steaming hot, especially that first cup. Imagine my disappointment when the coffee even 45 minutes later was just warm. I nuke my coffee but that's not really healthy so trying to stop - thought this product would help me. Overstock was going to send me a new carafe - it never arrived so I'm returning the product. I don't think replacing the carafe would make the difference anyway - it's strange that the coffee maker has a heater element, just like for glass carafes, but it shouldn't need that, because thermal carafes should only keep liquid hot once it's put inside (doesn't heat from outside, that's the whole point - that the coffee does not continue to "cook"). Other points i just don't like, which had I read in advance i would have said to myself "oh no big deal" but it IS a big deal - the water window is on the side, and the number and line indicators are in white, so they are barely visible. I agree with previous poster about the coffee dripping on the top of the carafe (which is white) and always dirty. Carafe pours slowly, esp. when little is left. Lastly, you can't see when the coffee is almost gone, so you go to pour and have to tip completely upside down to get it out. Bummed out. Looking for a new one :(

The coffeemaker is fine. Good size, good hot coffee for hours. However, I had to purchase gold cone coffee filter separately, and such filter normally comes with a new coffeemaker like this. By the time I purchased the filter, any savings from buying this refurbished model were gone. Should have just purchased a new coffeemaker from any site. Although the description did not state that any filter was included, only discovered after the purchase that a filter is normally included. Gotcha!

The part where water comes in coffee grounds has small holes, always fill with grounds and can not be cleaned...leaving a dirty look...the top of coffee pot always has coffee surrounding it ( drips that did not get into pot)..after a short time using it ..it now is starting to yellow...

Although a refurbished unit, it might as well have been brand new as far as the experience of unwrapping and setting it up went. I am absolutely delighted with this coffeemaker, which replaced a very badly stained and noisy Mr. Coffee. The Cuisinart is almost silent and having the coffee go into a thermal carafe means no more tired burned taste in less than an hour. Also, because it uses a thermal carafe, I don't need to worry about accidentally burning a counter top. I wish the digital clock were bigger and brighter but that's a very minor complaint. I also wish it had come with one of those permanent gold filters; I had to order one online. This does not use the same type of oversized muffin shaped filter as my Mr. Coffee but it comes with a few paper ones of the right type to get you started; the correct type are available at any grocery store just as the Mr. Coffee type were. I am enjoying my morning cup of coffee as I write this. I have no regrets in my purchase other than why did I wait so long? This is a very nice coffeemaker, solidly built with its high quality obvious the minute you start to make your first cup of coffee.
