Worked well for mixing, whipping cream and chopping onions and celery. Next day I used it to slice a few mushrooms - heard a loud crunching sound. Motor ground part of the plastic stem from the top of the food chopper piece. Perhaps the motor is too powerful for the plastic attachment? If I cannot use all the components, I would not have spent the extra cost for the accompanying attachments. Purchased this particular item because of the Cuisinart brand. Very disappointed. Overstock.com sent a shipping label to return it in an email stating that upon receipt "If the item is not found to be defective the warehouse may grant a partial refund." This will be my last Overstock.com purchase.Read More
Both the blender and the food processor work extremely well. The food slicer/shredder, takes getting use to. You need smaller then the chute pieces and pulse action when using versus using full out power. I am a senior and want a small dual purpose machine for 2 people and it has more than met our expectations so far. The plastic seems of a better quality then the Miiallergo Mittuto 450, that I had to return because the plastic kept breaking and they(MM) had very poor support and never-ever called back or followed through. "O", however handled the issue and I replaced it with Cuisinart CSB-80.Read More
This is for someone who has experience with a stick blender. It can pulverize frozen fruit , a little almond milk and yogurt into a ice-cream like treat. Makes Mayo in a snap, and soups are creamy smooth...love the chopper attachment. Make sure you have the blending stick set correctly. One Caveat I would caution when handling. this is powerful motor and with the blade exposed it is not for a child to use. you must have a firm grip on the container you are using the stick in, or it will turn. I don't put my hand anywhere near the blade when it plugged in. if you have your hand on the power switch, you can easily bump it activating the blade.Read More

How to Use a Blender as a Juicer
Making smoothies and milkshakes is easy with the right blender to mix everything together into a smooth consistency. A juicer, on the other hand, separates juice from fruit and vegetables by squeezing it. If you want the pure vegetable or fruit juice of a vegetable or fruit, you will probably need to buy a juicer, such as an orange juicer, rather than a kitchen blender. For thicker smoothies and drinks that still contain fruit pulp, however, blenders will work well. Read on for tips on using your food blender as a juicer for a variety of fruits.

Best Ways to Use Paper Shredders
If you're concerned about protecting your personal information and sensitive documents, a paper shredder is an important tool for properly destroying documents. Paper shredders are made with multiple security features. Some shredders cut items into long strips, while cross-cut paper shredders go even further and shred documents into small diamond-shaped pieces. Here are some of the best ways to use a paper shredder to protect your identity and sensitive information. Shred paper documents. Shredding documents containing personal identification reduces the chance of someone obtaining personal information such as your social security number, address, birth date and phone number. Medium-sensitivity documents containing addresses and phone numbers can safely be disposed of with a normal cross-cut or thin strip paper shredder. For more private information and confidential documents, shredders that are medium or high security are the safest selection. These high-end paper shredders cut paper into even smaller pieces. Dispose of media. Some paper shredders are durable enough to destroy CDs and DVDs. As modern life becomes increasingly digital, more and more sensitive information is stored electronically. To protect this data, the right paper shredders reduce CDs and DVDs into jagged shards of plastic, making it impossible for anyone to retrieve sensitive data. Light-duty paper shredders won't shred plastic, but shredders that are medium to heavy duty are capable of shredding CDs and DVDs as well as paper. Destroy old credit cards. Simply breaking an old credit card in half or cutting it up by hand isn't really a safe way to dispose of these easily compromised items. To be sure your credit information is safe, run old or non-used cards through a medium to heavy-duty paper shredder. View All Paper Shredders Back to Guides Directory View All Paper Shredders
Best Fills for Down Comforters
Warm and incredibly soft, down comforters are the height of luxurious bedding. Like all other bedding, down comforters can range from inexpensive to costly. The proof is in the filling. Inexpensive down comforters are filled with a combination of down and polyester or down and feathers. The best down comforters, which are usually also the most expensive, are full of pure, thick down. Take a look below to learn the best fills for down comforters. Hungarian goose down: Hungarian goose down is considered the most luxurious type of down. These extreme cold-weather birds have very thick, almost odorless tufts of down at the base of their feathers. This heavy, long-lasting down is most often used in comforters with a fill rating of 800, which means they can keep a person warm even in cold conditions. Eiderdown: Eiderdown is harvested by hand from the abandoned nests of Eider ducks, which pluck the down from their own backs and use it to cover their eggs. Eider ducks live in cold climates, so their down is thick and heavy. It is used in high-quality comforters with a fill rating of between 700 and 800. Eider duck down is the only type of duck down used in high-quality comforters. All other duck down is usually considered too smelly (and some duck down has tiny barbs) and is used in much less expensive comforters. Grey and white goose down: Grey goose down is used in dark comforters due it its grey color, but it is the same as white goose down in all other ways. Grey and white goose down, which is usually harvested from European or Chinese geese, is the most popular type of down used in middle-price-range pure down comforters. These comforters usually have a fill rating of 600 and above. Hypodown: Hypodown is a mixture of white goose down and milkweed. This all-natural filling is hypoallergenic and much more durable than pure down comforters. While pure down is still considered to be the preferable fill for comforters by most people, hypodown is gaining popularity with consumers who want a longer lasting product without synthetic fills.
