My 6 year old daughter wanted a popcorn machine for her birthday. We bought this one because Cuisinart is a quality brand. We have several small appliances of this brand and like them all. Also, it is just hot air... no hot oil to be worried about. Clean up is easy. If you buy non-GMO popcorn, the kernels are smaller so before it starts popping, there will be a lot of kernels that fly out. We just keep an extra bowl ready and when it starts popping, we switch bowls so we don't have a lot of unpopped kernels in our popcorn. We are very happy with our purchase.
This popcorn popper works great. Yes, there are some un-popped kernels that fly out but placing the popper facing the kitchen counter back splash cured that. Maybe one or two "strays", no big deal. Pops nearly all kernels, much more than the microwave bagged popcorn. Looks great, clean lines.
Once the popcorn maker is turned on, the popcorn flies all over the place. It does not stay in the popcorn maker until it is popped. So we placed the bowl in the sink under the opening. Makes no difference. Unpopped kernels as well as the popped ones were flying everywhere. I think it should be recalled it is so bad. I wish I had the box as I would return it.
