I purchased these rods for hanging with curtain rings. Unless you buy very small rings, it looks a bit oversized on the thin rod. It still looks okay and functions well. It would work well for directly hanging the curtains through the rod. The only issue I had with the installation of the rods was with the hardware that attaches to the wall, the screws and wall anchors should have been a bit longer, so it would not be loose to the wall. This is a simple fix. I purchased a 86" long matching rod also.

Very classy looking and very good quality. Adds a lot to the beauty of the window.
