I purchased this countertop burner 2 years ago. I live in a downstairs condominium that does not have an air vent over the stove that sucks the air out and releases it outside; it just spews the cooking air and odors back into the room. So when I don't want my small place to smell of stale cooking odor I take this fabulous little hotplate outside to my patio and plug it in. It is very light weight, heats up in seconds and wipes clean with no scrubbing. It boils water in no time at all. I have used it on all heat settings and I love it! I recommended it to my brother and he got one and loves it too. p.s.You do have to use skillets and pans made out of the right metals or it will not heat up at all. Not a problem for me, I an happy!Read More
A great product when you want total safety anywhere you want to cook and need not worry about fire or heat. I use them in my small rental apartments for guests to use, so they can cook up their own meals without the worry of fire or heat. They would also be fun at a table side party for fondou or chocolate sauce.Read More
So far I am loving this burner. It heats fast and I have been using it if I want something heated quickly. Of course, I had to purchase a new set of cookware in order to cook on it. My first purchase of cookware did not work (which annoyed me greatly), so I ended up going to to a local department store with a magnet and finding something in person that attracted a magnet. As far as sending the first set of cookware back to Overstock.. No worries.... I gave the first set to my sister as a Christmas gift. She had a house fire last year and she really appreciated the new cookware. She was able to get rid of her thrift store pans and replace them with the new ones I got from overstock. I had ordered two sets of the beautiful cookware from Overstock and also gave one to my son for Christmasl. Both my sister and my son loved the gold-plated handles.Read More
I bought this induction heater because my husband eats very slowly and is always complaining about his food being cold. He's used it to keep his food warm without burning and I will use it when we have parties to keep buffet items warm. My only complaint is that the fan is a bit noisy. But I liked mine so well I bought another for my sister-in-law!Read More
We are currently doing a remodel on our house and are putting in a Wolf induction cook top. In the meantime I needed to put together a temporary kitchen. I thought this burner would be a good introduction to induction cooking. It works beautifully (with the correct cookware). It boils water faster than gas and the simmer settings are great as well. If the cookware is none compatible (non-magnetic) the burner will not work at all, but I knew this. It's given me a good reason to buy new All Clad copper core cookware, replacing my ancient All Clad, which I was surprised to find will not work with induction, The burner is well designed and simple. The heat controls work perfectly and the surface is easy to clean, though it will scratch. All in all a very nice single burner at a killer low price.Read More
This Fagor countertop induction unit is fantastic - easy to use, easy to clean and super responsive. Want to go from a rolling boil down to a simmer? Touch the button and it's done in the blink of an eye. This unit works just as well as my built-in five burner Gaggenau induction cooktop (for a heck of a lot less money!). The only downside is that the fan is a wee bit noisy, but that's to be expected (the electronics need to be kept cool for the unit to function properly). We bought this unit for our vacation cottage and it works perfectly. This unit along with a microwave oven, an outdoor gas grill and a mini fridge are all we need to whip up a great meal without having to put in an expensive kitchen. I wish I had one of these when we were going through our kitchen remodel at home - it would have helped immensely. BTW - before running out and buying new cookware, test your existing pots and pans with a magnet. If the magnet sticks to the bottom underside of the pan, it'll work on induction just fine. Cast iron works great. If you do need to purchase some new pieces, the Giada de Laurentiis for Target line is induction compatible and very inexpensive. If you have an IKEA near you, almost all of their cookware is induction compatible and very inexpensive too. Of course, Overstock has some great deals, but not all of their product descriptions mention induction compatibility, so buyer beware.Read More

Best Types of Tile for Kitchen Countertops
Tile kitchen countertops are an affordable alternative to traditional solid stone units. Countertop tile can be made from many of the most popular materials, such as granite or quartz, yet costs just a fraction of the price. Tile countertops are also easy to install and repair, making them the perfect project for the DIY homeowner. Ceramic. Ceramic tile is made from natural clay that is baked to remove excess moisture. It is available in a wide variety of colors and designs that can be mixed and matched to any kitchen. Ceramic tile is affordable, easy to install and very low maintenance. It is also waterproof and able to withstand high temperatures from hot dishes. If you choose ceramic tile for your kitchen countertops, you should be aware that ceramic tile can crack or chip if heavy objects are dropped on it. To minimize grout stains, you can choose a dark grout and use a grout sealer to protect the seams from dirt. Mosaic. Mosaic tile comes in tiny 1-inch square units. It is often sold in large sheets that are attached to a mesh backer-board, making for easy and fast installation. These tiles can be mixed to create unique patterns and textures, and are very durable. One advantage of mosaic tiles is that they are colored all the way through, so a chip or crack will not be as visible as with ceramic tile. Granite. Granite tile is a natural stone product that is widely popular in kitchen decor. Tiles made from granite offer the beauty of natural stone at a fraction of the cost. Granite tiles often have a mottled surface that helps to hide dirt and fingerprints and are incredibly strong and long-lasting. Like all granite products, these tiles must be sealed after installation and at least once a year for the duration of their use. Quartz. Quartz tile is a manufactured product designed to look similar to granite while offering superior performance. It is made from crushed quartz crystals pressed together with resin. Quartz tile has a smooth and uniform surface with a consistent grain. It is slightly less expensive than granite and is much more durable and long-lasting. Unlike granite, quartz tiles do not need to be sealed. They are completely nonporous, which prevents bacteria from becoming trapped in the surface. Quartz cannot be repaired as easily as granite, however, and it offers none of the natural beauty and color variation of real stone. View All Tile Back to Guides Directory View All Tile
