I just received this product and put it together this weekend. I love the look of it. The wood is much more sturdy than I expected. It has a solid feel to it. It doesnt look cheap nor does it feel cheap. I dont know how long it will hold up in the future but its in a guest bedroom so I think i'll be able to use it for a few years at least.

Please tell us about the quality of the product. Surprised at the sturdiness. Expected flimsy for the price, but this is really solid feel.

I ordered this for my 15 yr. old son...we just got rid of his bunk beds. We put a memory foam mattress on it and he loves it. It would fit any ecor and was not too hard to put together. I was so excited to find it! It came in only 5 days.

The queen platform bed arrived in three different packages in approximately 5 days. I was able to carry each box from my apartment office to my front door, unassisted. All three packages arrived in perfect condition. I unpacked everything, cleaned up all the styrofoam and plastic from within the boxes, located the hardware/instructions, and began putting everything together. It only took me 10 minutes to put the entire bed together (minus the wooden slats.) I had to wait until later to borrow a friends power drill to screw down all of the slats. That only took 5 minutes. So, with cleanup and everything else it literally only took me about 20 minutes to finish it all. And trust me, I am not very handy when it comes to putting stuff together. This was just very simple. And it looks great!
Good product and very easy to put together. Slats are a bit a pain to screw-in, but manageable. Unfortunately, the headboard was damaged to what appeared to be a forklift incident either at the manufacturer, overstock.com or the shipping company. Nevertheless, customer service immediately located another one and it shipped right away without hassle.
What's important in considering a new bed, especially in this price range are the slats. I'm happy to report that this one has 12 horizontal slats that you screw to the frame, as well as one long vertical slat running down the middle(headboard to footboard) that has 2 legs underneath supporting it. The bed is solid.
Its a simple modern design.
You won't need a box spring as it will be too high, almost to the top of the headboard. We haver a pillow top mattress and I didn't even miss the box spring.
It came with all the parts & the directions. It did have two small marks that looked to be from factory, but no big deal.
Installation: was straight forward and easy. From the time you carry the packages to bedroom, unpack the boxes (better to do that in the bedroom to avoid scratches carrying it), to putting it together, then taking boxes out, it took approx 1 hour. A cordless drill with a phillips head is all you need for assembly, easily done by one person. Carrying the boxes need to be carried by two people or open boxes and carry the parts.
Add in moving the mattress and making the bed, give yourself two hours.
Overall very satisfied that I got a solid bed (wife approves too) for a relatively great price.
I added a little plywood along with the slats provided. I also added 2 additional legs. The bed is constructed well and was easy to assemble. Even with the plywood and extra legs it was a good bed for the money.
I would not buy this bed if your mattress is heavy and you are not handy. The bed is lightweight.
This bed was exactly what I was looking for: a simple, elegant design at a low price. It is miles better than any flat-pack furniture you could get for sure. It took about 30 minutes to assemble, and 15 of that was because I wanted to be exact with the placement of the slats (you'll need a power drill for sure). Once it is together, it is completely solid. I can't think of anything I'd change.
Hello rachrasmussen, yes, the headboard is removable. Thanks for shopping with us!overstockcustomercare1 on Aug 29, 2014
I'm planning on using this bed with a Queen (60" x 80") memory foam mattress sitting on top of a box spring. If the box spring has dimensions of exactly 60" x 80", will this be able to fit on the inside of the bed frame? I saw a comment about the legs at the foot of the bed having a 1.5" x 1.5" protrusion in the corners; please clarify on this.jyncus on Jul 20, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello jyncus, I hope your day is going well. The bed is designed for a queen mattress. The protrusion is at the corners and can be seen in the picture with the foot board. Thank you for shopping with us.overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 21, 2014
I didn't use my box spring as it made the bed heigh so high it almost covered the headboard. You don't need it. My pillowtop mattress fit fine. Plus a mattress will have more give than a boxspring.sbt001 on Aug 19, 2014
I would like to now the approximate space between the slates that support the mattress? I know this is important for support. Thanks!carmenlyn on Jul 18, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Hello carmenlyn, I hope you are having a great start to the week. The rail is 74.5 inches long that the slats are attached to. The twelve slats are 2 3/4 inches long. I calculated the space at 2.25 inches from one another. Thank you for shopping with us and have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on Jul 21, 2014
There are approx. 12 horizontal slats, and 1 long vertical that runs underneath the twelve, and two legs underneath the vertical slat. Its very solid. The slats are screwed into the frame and vertical slat screwed into horizontal slats.sbt001 on Aug 19, 2014
Thank you for shopping with us minniez. The bed weighs approximately 92.4 pounds. It ships in 3 boxes and I took the net weight off the boxes. Have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on Jun 19, 2014
Thanks again minniez, I just forgot to answer the first part of your question. Yes it is solid rubber wood. Have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on Jun 19, 2014
I have a tempurpedic memory foam mattress and I would need to put a 3/4 inch piece of plywood on top of the slats so I do not lose the warranty and the mattress would work properly. The dimensions of my mattress are L:60 x D:80 x H:12. What is the inside area of the bed that I should cut my plywood platform to?rugger11 on May 29, 2014Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
The exact measurements are 79 7/8" x 59 7/8". However, the feet protrude in at the corners, so you'd have to have a 1.5" x 1.5" cutout at each corner to allow for them.halgerson on Jun 10, 2014
Thank you for shopping with us rugger11. The width measured from the foot board where the sides rails attach are 59 1/2 inches wide. The side rails are 74 7/8 inches long, measured from the ledge where the slats are attached, and it is 79 1/4 inches long when measured from the metal pieces that attach to the headboard and footboard. I hope this helps.overstockcustomercare1 on Jun 11, 2014
Thank you for shopping with us glamrock88. I don't want to say no but your bed will come with 12 slats that will support your mattress and two adults. When you add a box spring the additional height will take away from the beauty of the head board. I hope this helps and have a great day.overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 26, 2013
I have a latex foam mattress and I would need to put a 3/4 inch piece of plywood on top of the slats so I do not lose the warranty on my mattress. The dimensions of my mattress are L:60 x D:80 x H:12 so two questions
1. Will my mattress fit in this bed?
2. Should the plywood piece match the Land W of the mattress or of the bedtina9582 on Dec 4, 2013Please enter a valid question.Answer This Question
Yes your mattress will fit. You would need the plywood to be as big as big as the inside area of the bed.
Have a great day! overstockcustomercare1 on Dec 4, 2013
