The brass-colored connectors are just plastic so took them off and hung directly. They have been hanging outside for two weeks and the metal is already looking slightly worn- - sun bleached and scuffed. In spite of all that, they are still provide a fun effect off in the distance of our back yard.
Been looking for copper colored windsticks. After 3 days one of the strings already broke ! It was an easy mend with a trip to the fishing store for heavier line and better quality spin gadgets. It appears to spin better with these additions. Hope this helps keep the birds away ! Overall, I do like the windsticks.
The sound great and look really good hanging from my patio. The only "concern" I have is the durability of the strings that they hang from. Time will tell . . .
