Pressure Cooker
 from Gilbert,  Apr 8, 2009

I actually purchased two of these pressure cookers, one for my sister as a gift. We recently started canning some various foods and all of the other pressure cookers that I was able to find that would serve our purpose were extremely expensive. This is a pretty good price for a pressure cooker of this size. The description doesn't say that the inside is teflon, some people may not like that, I personally don't mind it. I haven't tried cooking anything in it yet, but I have canned several things and it worked well. Overall value on this product is good and I am looking forward to many years of use from this pressure cooker. By the way, anyone else who might be looking for a pressure cooker for the purpose of canning, this is the ONLY one that I could find on overstock that has 2 pressure settings. And it's large enough to whole quart jars.

My First Pressure Cooker
from New Orleans,  Jul 24, 2009

My hubby wanted me to get a pressure cooker since he had fond memories of his mother's dishes. After much research, I settled on the fagor brand, and when it arrived, I was not disappointed. For a novice user, this is simple to use, and the safety features are a plus. It's a good looking, nice & heavy & the non-stick interior is a plus. Fagor says that this size can also be used for canning. I've tried out several meals in this one & I love it. I can't wait to try out soups that usually take hours to prepare.

cooks essentials by Fagor 10Qt pressure cooker
 from bourne,cape cod, Ma,  Jun 28, 2009

I love love love this 10 Qt. I make a lot of soups and my 7Qt is not is not adequate especially chicken soup when there is 5-6 pounds of chicken plus all the vegatables. You can only fill to 2/3 capacity with liquid. Now I have an extra 3 Qts to utilize. The stainless steel pot is a good looking pot and of course it comes with a glass lid to use as a stockpot.. I recommend this to anyone who pressure cooks.

This is simpy wonderful! Beautiful exterior and non-stick inside. Love that it came with a separate lid so the pot can be used to slowly cook soups. It makes the most tender roasts in record time! You won't go wrong with this combination!!!

Presure Cooker
 from Pennsylvania,  Nov 10, 2011

I purchased the product to use as an addition to my cooking business. although the pressure cooker worked correctly, the inner lining did not hold up to heavy use and acidy liquids. The caoing started to peel which made it impossible to continue to use it. I had to disgard it.

  • How did the color on site compare with the actual product? Appearence was fine but insignificant. It's all about the construction.
  • Please tell us about the quality of the product. For occassional use , the product is fine....but the inner lining was not made to suit heavy duty use.
  • How accurate was the on site description of the product? accurate

Unbelievable bargain!
from New York, NY,  Nov 10, 2009

I am new to pressure cooker cooking. First, I bought a Fagor, 4-quart, Elite, at a well-known retail store. Seemed a good markdown. Then I did some research and realized it was going to be too small. Searched many websites and settled on Fagor, 10-quart, Duo Pressure Cooker at Overstock. Helpful to my research was Vickie Smith's Big Book of Pressure Cooker Recipes. She has lots of hands-on information. Fagor seems the preferred brand, unless you're going to invest in a Kuhn Rikon, the Cadillac of pressure cookers. For a while I was hesitant to plunge in. But last weekend I took a "test drive" with the cooker, as Miss Vickie recommends. Then began to assemble "Quick and Easy Chicken Soup" from the cooker recipe book. The soup turned out wonderfully! It was delicious. They say it takes 12 minutes to cook. That is conservative. And prep time is greater than their estimate. So, we're not talking about a microwave meal here. But I am so excited I have found something that will help me eat more healthily and tastefully. You can spend $70 on a can-opener and much more for a microwave, toaster oven, electric mixer, blender or food processor. To acquire this versatile, well-constructed kitchen appliance for under $70--one can hardly believe it! I look forward to many enjoyable experiments with my new cooker. It takes a little effort to maneuver the 10-quart around, for cleaning, etc. But I think the options with a large cooker make it worth the extra effort. As one expert points out, you can cook small items in a large cooker, but not vice versa. Non-stick interior and glass lid are also pluses. If you're interested, I encourage you to try pressure cooking. Good bargains found at major online stores. Here are the main selling points from my experience and reasons for 5 stars: lifetime warranty; glass lid option; cookbook; convenience of the larger size; steamer basket; free shipping and handling; non-stick interior; reputation; safety features; duo pressure setting. There's a reason the Fagor duo pressure cooker was chosen by a professional cooking organization as its top choice. Happy cooking and delicious eating! Thank you, Fagor and Overstock!

Fargo 10 qt. pressure cooker Spectacular!
from Lincoln, NE,  Oct 2, 2009

I have been cooking with a pressure cooker for 10 years now. This pressure cooker is the best one I have ever owned! This is my fourth pressure cooker.I absolutely love the non-stick coating inside! It makes clean up of cabbage, potatoes, and tomatoes so effortless! It took me a bit to get use to the dial pressure selector, as all my old ones had the little ball rocker, but I wouldnt go back for anything! The pressure balls would always fall apart and were awful to clean. As a bonus, the steam from the pressure dial is great to aim at grime and food splatters on your wall by the stove or on the tile around the stove! It loosens it all and makes clean up easy and anti-bacterial to boot!I love the basket insert..thats an understatement! Before with other cookers, there was just this little rack. I was constantly fishing for the carrots, onions, or broken pieces of meat, in the broth. With this basket, I can grab the handle with a pot holder and lift it up just enough to drain all the broth and transfer our whole meal onto a platter in the basket! All in all I am in love with this cooker and recommend it for the beginner or pro pressure cooker cook!

Excellent!!!!!
from South Carolina,  Oct 1, 2009

I have used this for cooking as well as canning and it really saves time and $$. The meats and soup I have made were terrific and it greatly reduced the amount of cooking time. The price I paid for this on Overstock was very good compared to other pressure cookers that are not as large as this one. I do not think you can go wrong with this model. If you cook for a large number of people, as I do when our whole family gets together, you will be pleased.

Excellent cooker
from Charlotte, NC,  Jun 21, 2009

This is a really nice pressure cooker. The stainless steel finish and nonstick interior make it a snap to clean up after use. It builds up pressure very quickly so cooking takes so much less time. I also have a large 16 quart canning pressure cooker and I really find that this is my preferred go to product. I can cook 2 large chickens in it at once. I cook for my dogs and by cooking the chickens for a little over an hour, everything just falls apart. I can easily hand smash the bones and mix them in with the meat or just pull them out of the pile of meat. One of these days, I'll try cooking for myself with it, but for now my 5 very large dogs are enjoying the benefit of very nutritious food.

Pressure cooker
 from Ringgold,Georgia,  Apr 5, 2009

What can I really say but it is a wonderful pressure cooker I bought this four years ago and use it a lot. So I bought one for my daughter for her birthday last year and then this year I bought one for my daughter-in-law and they love theirs also. It is so easy to use and clean with it's non stick surface. My other daughter and other daughter-in-law are getting one for Christmas or maybe even earlier!!! I would recommend to everyone if they are looking for a good pressure cooker, that will last a good long time.

from Queens, NY,  Apr 1, 2009

We love our new pressure cooker. It's stainless steel with all the safety features and we love that any cut of meat that is cooked in it comes out tender and flavorful. Of course everything cooks faster and retains all its nutrition as well.

OUTSTANDONG!
from Lake Arrowhead, CA,  Feb 6, 2009

I am from the old, old school having grown up using the old Presto pressure cooker. While i never had an accident with the old one, I was always very, very leery of using the thing even though I did.Sine I have had the "Cooks Essentials" pressure cooker, life is much easier when preparing supper. The other day, did a perfect Pot Roast and vegetables and gravy and came out absolutely fantastic! Tonite, a pork loin roast, again fantastic. BTW, the included basket is great for cooking the meat and the veggies in.HIGHEST recommendation. A+++++
